University of Alberta Nursing 2nd Degree 2016

World Canada CA Programs

Hello!

I figured it would be a good idea to start a thread for 2016.

I am so nervous about applying but so excited about starting nursing school next year. My situation is a little unique. I am also applying to two schools in the US for the Accelerated BSN/MSN programs and not sure if that is a good idea since I will come back here anyways. Leaving my kids and husband for 21 months is so hard so hence my reason for applying to U of A.

I will be retaking my Micro and Physiology to get As and not Bs. I just want to make sure I am competitive enough since my degree and pre-reqs are from the US.

All the best to everyone!!

Hello Maria --- can I get in contact with you. any email address? Just have few questions to ask you.

Just got conditional acceptance!!!!!!!!

Woohoo! See you all September 2016!

Hi tparno,

Congratulations :) if you don't mind me asking, could you please let me know what your GPA was?

Thank you so much

Hey Hodan07,

I have a Masters in Neuroscience so I'm not sure how they calculated my GPA but the last two years of my undergrad was 3.8.

Good luck!!

Hey Tparno,

That's awesome! Thanks for sharing and best wishes. All the best to you as well :)

Hi Everyone,

Nice to see you all getting so excited about U of A Nursing. The rankings are out, and it is the third best program in the WORLD.

I just applied to U of A and sent my transcripts in. I am still finishing the A & P prerequisite. I will be done in a month. Does anyone know if it's possible for me to get conditional acceptance now without that final grade being submitted, or will I have to wait? I am a little worried about applying so late in the game, since many people have already gotten accepted! I do have a high GPA, so that should count for something I'd hope :) Does anyone here know what the competitive GPA is?

Thanks!

Hi, futurenursling good luck while you wait. It is possible to be conditionally accepted without your final grades. I did 12 credit last semester and doing 12 this semester, but I was conditionally accepted in January.

Hi, tiparno, congratulations! Got conditionally accepted too. Did you apply for the honors program?

Hey Koi Koi. I applied for the after degree program!

i was just researching it and I had no idea they offered this! The deadline says March 31st but I will email them!!! Thanks for the information!

That would be great because, from what I can understand, it offers a research component as well.

Does anyone have previous experience applying to UofA, generally what is the cutoff for lowest GPA and does the application committee favor people who have completed the prereqs already, over those who haven't and are still working on it? All the posts I've seen are people with GPA's that could have gotten them into medicine, quite frankly its intimidating.

Hey nini.mango,

Don't be discouraged! ALWAYS APPLY! If you have the minimum, 3.0 out of 4.0 then apply! If you have 3.3 then there's a good chance!
