University of Alberta Nursing 2nd Degree 2016

Hello!

I figured it would be a good idea to start a thread for 2016.

I am so nervous about applying but so excited about starting nursing school next year. My situation is a little unique. I am also applying to two schools in the US for the Accelerated BSN/MSN programs and not sure if that is a good idea since I will come back here anyways. Leaving my kids and husband for 21 months is so hard so hence my reason for applying to U of A.

I will be retaking my Micro and Physiology to get As and not Bs. I just want to make sure I am competitive enough since my degree and pre-reqs are from the US.

I also have applied for the 2016 program! It is soooo nerve wracking! I am missing some prerequisites and working on them through Athabasca starting this month! Hoping it wont be too difficult to do well in the online courses!

Im taking bio 235-anatomy and physiology and Psych 289-psychology as a natural science

Have you started yet.. If so; how are you finding it? Cause I was going to do uofT online physiology but it's $1200.... Is that normal, would you say!?

I have started it and for the two classes it was $1800 (which is a total of 9 credits). Is it a 3 credit or 6 credit class? If its only 3, it is likely expensive because UofT is charging you all the student fees. If it is a six credit class it sounds about right.

I like learning on my own and through text so I think I will like it overall, but if you learn best through lectures you probably wont like online very much ;)

Ummm im not sure what this 3 and 6 credit is..... I go by 0.5 and 1 credit course...so the online physiology I would be doing is a full 1 credit course.. does this sound familiar?

The University of Alberta where I took my first degree at has 3 credit classes which are designed to last one semester (4 months) or six credit classes which go for two semesters (8 months). So each semester of my degree would normally have five three credit classes.

Hi,

Just curious, what GPA is everyone applying with? I am taking all my prereqs in the winter term and am not sure what I'm up against.

Also, anyone know how to correctly calculate their AGPA?

I just started the BIO 325 Microbiology course for my prereq. I don't like it! You just read an online text. I thought there would at least be some lecture to watch or something.

Hi,

I am international nurse.I failed RN ,but recently I passed RPN.My RN safe practice expired,so I need to do refresh ccoursese and clinic practice in hospital.I know the refresh program almost 23 courses and I have to go to classroom,I think it is too much time.Which university has online courses and what admission requests?in Ontario or outside Ontario?
