University of Alberta - After Degree Program 2017

World Canada CA Programs

Hi everyone!

I figured I would start up a thread for those applying/planning to apply to the University of Alberta After Degree program for Fall 2017 admission.

My plan is to apply in January once I have started Medical Microbiology at MacEwan. I'm currently taking BIOL 235 (Anatomy and Physiology) through Athabasca University.

When is everyone else planning on sending in their application?

Good luck to everyone!!

I have everything except anatomy which I'll be taking through Athabasca soon. I'm also taking a few extra courses to boost my GPA (4th year wasn't all that great GPA wise). How about you?

I have them all, assuming they accept my biostatistics as 3 credits of stats as they say they will. Took A and P at ok college last summer to get it over with. Did you do med micro at ubco as part of your degree (ie biol314)?

Nice! A & P is a 6 credit course through Athabasca which i'm not looking forward to. Yes, I did Med Mic at UBCO with ****** (I adore her!). Are you applying anywhere else?

It took out her name. Does her last name start with * or *? Lol

She is fantastic. Took intro micro and immunology with her. Had dr * for med micro but loved her too haha!

She was wonderful, never had a class with Dr. *

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Sorry, moderator! Did not realize rules. Will not happen again.

So you are taking all 6 credits in one semester? I kind of did the same at ok college..I took a 6 week intensive in the summer with 6 hours of class 5 days a week for both halves of a and p.

I work full time, so my only option is taking it online through Athabasca. I think it'll take me 2-3 months if I hunker down. Has anyone else taken BIOL 235? Any advice? Also, I've been browsing through some of the other posts here and keep seeing comments on the bleak job market for RN's. I know that new grad's often have difficulty getting full time lines, which would be the case for any entry level career. Any thoughts on this?

Well i haven't taken 235 but I have taken its equivalent in a very accelerated self driven format. I personally after my degree which is in general biology but I focused on human/medical bio in my last 2 years found it not to be super challenging and actually was a grade booster. How does one take the lab online?

There is no lab component and U of A doesn't require one :)
