I didn't see a 2020 thread, thought I'd start one. I'll be finishing up my pre-requisites in April and hoping to hear back during the Summer. Has anyone been accepted? And if so, what was your AGPA? Thanks!

It doesn't make sense for me to wait a year and re-take it, so I'm sticking with my current career. Yes, I got an A, which was not THAT difficult to do, a little time management goes a long way. I have taken and failed the 6 credit course from Athabasca, it's just not for me. I'm not sure about online classes, I took it while classes were still meeting. Don't apologize! I'm happy to help.

Oh I see. Does that mean you will be retaking it? Did you have an A in it ? I’ll be taking both anatomy and physiology in Winter 2021. Do you Think I Can take both classes and still get good grades in them ? I’m running away from the 6 units of Athabasca’s own LOL, becasue I intend o pass well.Lastly, please are the online classes everyday ? I’m sorry for my numerous questions. Thanks in advance.

Oh, is there a rule to wait for 1 year before retaking failed courses ? Or does your one year wait mean that you would have to wait for another academic year becasue you didn’t get in this fall ? Otherwise, I think you can take it this fall and apply for 2021 admission.
meanwhile, please I need clarity on my case, I do not want them to use my school transcript to calculate my AGPA at all as I did not do well there, do you think I need to take extra courses with the prequisites in other for them to use to calculate it or are the 6 pre requisites enough for them to use to calculate my CGPA?
thank you.

Yes, the year wait is because they only have one intake a year. To be safe, I took 8 (24 credits) new courses so they wouldn’t take my older courses into account for the AGPA. The admissions office is usually pretty helpful with questions, so give them a try for the most accurate answer.

Thanks for your reply. You can still apply and retake the anatomy this coming Winter then, and apply right after for 2021 intake. Yes I sent a message to the department already, I’m just awaiting reply. Do you mind telling me the 2 courses that you added with your prerequisites to make it 8. I am looking for simple courses that I can take and easily pass within a month or lesser with Athabasca. Thank you

NUTR 100 and CLST 201 were quick to get through as was first year psychology (can’t remember the course name, but it was the basic level introductory psychology).

Okay, thanks a lot for the information so far.

please were these courses taken at Athabasca ? Can’t seem to find these codes there.

Yes, it was at Athabasca. Check under the undergraduate courses.

Hi all! Just jumping in here.

I'm currently UK based and will be hoping to be accepted as an international student onto the 2021 Nursing After Degree BSN at UoA.

If I start all the pre reqs in October do you think thats enough time to get them finished?

Due to covid I have decided to stay put and do them online through either Athabasca, Macewan and Thompson Rivers. Does anyone have a preference of the best one to go for?

I was a little confused about courses being taken in the Winter not being accepted?

Thanks so much in advance!

Big love from London

Hi,

I don't think you can finish them before June, well , that’s based on my own study pace though.
I am taking courses with Mcewan this fall and Winter as well. There is no preference as to which school does it best, but I’d definitely pick a tutored learning over self study( as with Athabasca). Although, I’d be taking the simple courses with Athabasca. Anatomy and Physiology with them is just what I’ve learnt from different people to avoid because it is voluminous, being a 6 unit course and therefore not easy to pass within a short time frame.
I contacted the U of A about Winter courses and they replied stating that was only a covid situation decision and not the norm. Hence, nothing like Winter or any other season courses not being considered henceforth.

I hope I replied all your questions.

Hi Temade

Thanks for your reply!

I'll be studying full time so fingers crossed I can power through.

I will have a look at McEwan more closely if they offer tutored learning. This is a good tip. It's a minefield that's for sure.

Wish me luck ?
