Has anyone heard of Unitek nursing program? I was looking to attend but just wanted to hear from someone who has been there before. what was the program like? do you feel like you got your money's worth? did they prepare you to become a good nurse? would you reccomend their program to others like family? once you've become an LVN is it eaisy to transfer to an CC or a university- to do the LVN to RN portion? sorry for all the questions but really want to know what i'm getting into before i give away my money! thanks for any help you may offer.

Uniteks LVN program is about $22,000+. Why not go to Grant adult Ed for your LVN. It is in Sacramento and costs $8,000.
The problem with that program (grant) is that it's 23 mos as long as an RN program n and i just don't have that kinda time!
OK, but it is / was a great program. It is also part time (3 days a week) so you can continue toi work. Fast-paced LVN programs tend to be 4 -5 days a week, leaving little to no time to work. I had to work, so grant was great for me. Plus $5,000 (now $8,000) was much easier to pay off then $22,000+. But to each their own.

I know this is a old post but I was just wondering if you ever did decide to go to Unitek and what your experience was. Thanks for any info.

I'm debating going to their LVN to RN program. I'm at a LVN to BSN program right now, but I'm looking at three more years (yes i'm already in too!) and I now don't have that much time.
The only thing they've told me is that it cost 38000 and it finishes in 9 months.
I'm concerned because it's so brand new.

The day I took my nclex in san jose I meet someone who graduated from the unitek lvn-rn. We didn't have that much time to talk since she was next to take her test, but some things she told me included that the program was really fast, you do your preceptorship at different places within the bay area, and she kind of felt like it was a little disorganized since she was part of the first class.
Ya know what I say, you make the program your own experience. Hey, if in the end you qualify to take the nclex RN then power to you. If you have the cash or loans to take you to the end then go for it. Even though it is a fresh school, it is a gateway to becoming an RN. Thats how I look at it. There is only unitek, WCC, indiana state online, and university of phoenix.

rebecca - how far are you from stockton? check out xavier college school of nursing.
do a google and you'll find the webiste. good instructors, good-to-great clinical sites. if you want to pm me, feel free.
there are a couple folks from sac who attend. they chose not to attend kaplan or unitek, for various reasons.
