  1. Hello, I am currently enrolled in the program and will be done Fall 2020. I really like it so far. I completed my ADN Spring 2019 and started in the fall. The classes are 8 weeks long so each semester is basically split in 2. for example ~August to October is Fall I and October to December is Fall II. The classes go by pretty quickly. The ones I have had so far have a similar style, you can see what is due that week and plan around your schedule. Most assignments are due on Thursday and responses to peers are dues Sunday. The assignment can be time consuming, but are interesting. They range from discussion posts, to papers, projects and online clinical simulations. As long as you have a calendar or planner and set time aside to complete the assignments, you will be fine. Overall, I am really liking the program because I can work while taking classes. Haven't had issues yet. Hope this was a little helpful.
  2. Congratulation! I applied and was referred to hiring managers, but haven't received a call for interviews. They probably didn't select me. When did they call you for an interview? Good luck to you by the way!
  3. Hello, Can anyone shed some light on the VA new grad RN residency program in Palo Alto. I haven't been able to find too much information online and would like to know what your experience was like. How long did it take before you submitted your application to interview? How did the interview process go? Also, what are the 12 months like? Do you rotate between units/facilities? Overall, what was your experience like? And do you have any advice you are willing to share?? I have applied and have been referred to the hiring managers, but have yet to hear anything else. Just want to know what the process is like since I can't really find too much online. Thank you so much in advance!!
  4. Congrats! I received the email today as well!
  5. Hello all, I was just accepted into the ELMSN-CM program and will be declining the ABSN may cohort in oakland. Hope that helps anyone still waiting to hear back from SMU!!
  6. Hello everyone, I just found out that I was accepted into the may absn cohort. Super excited, but extremely nervous because I just received the preliminary award letter that outlines finances... has anyone looked into loan options or have any clue how they're going to pay nearly 100k for a bachelors? I also applied for the ELMSN-CM at samuel merritt, but my interview isn't until 2/29 and I believe our absn deposits are due in 10 days. freaking out just a tad right now haha
  7. Hello all,I recently graduated as an LVN and landed a job with a pediatric home health agency. I'm working with a 2 year old who has cerebral palsy and a g tube. He is a sweet little boy and the family Is very helpful, but for some reason I don't think I'm enjoying this job as much as I should be. It is fairly easy, but I don't have much experience with children. I become anxious when he cries hysterically because I fear that something serious is wrong with him. I'm hoping that if I give it some time he will eventually become used to me. Does anyone have experience with pediatric HH? I guess my problem is managing my own anxiety with children since they are much different patients that adults or the elderly.
  8. Is it true that if you retake a class SMU will take the highest grade? I'm really interested in attending the ABSN program but need to retake a few classes. I remember hearing that the highest grade is considered, but i'm really not sure if that's true because most schools count retake's negatively... thanks for any info.. =)
  9. Hey! I was just wondering what you ended up doing after graduation? if you dont mind sharing :) I'm pretty much in the same boat (graduating this spring with low gpa, but hoping to switch gears and get into nursing school)...
  10. im just wondering.. did you apply to sjsu after you received your bachelors from ucsc? im in the same posistion.. going to graduate with a BA from ucd but want to go into nursing (first choice is samuel merritt) but im not sure how to go about it. i need to take and maybe retake pre reqs. where are you taking your pre req's? i would suggest to either do an internship or volunteer at a hospital. It wouldn't hurt to have some experience under your belt =)
  11. Hello all, I'm just curious as to how it's been going so far for those of you who are enrolled in the program. how are the instructors and classes (work-load.. etc) and also was it difficult to get the loan? did you choose sallie mae or another private loan? thanks in advance!! I'm planning on starting in the fall, so i want to get any extra information
  12. hello! I was just wondering is t was hard for you to get the loan.. i dont know if i should trust Sallie Mae because i've read some awful things about them or if i should get a private loan form a bank.. i would love to know how you exeprience has been so far and which program you are doing =) thanks in advance.
  13. I don't think they allow you to apply without choosing a degree anymore.. did you apply online to csueb? so when you applied as a graduate student, you were able to take undergraduate classes? thanks again for your help!!

yeah i think the best way to learn is to follow a nurse around. they can sometimes be the most helpful people out there.
