Union County College Nurses

Published

Hello everyone!

I am psyched to be here on this thread with nurse from NJ!.. NJ IS THE BEST!...

Is there anyone here is currently attends Union County College/Trinitas school of nursing?

I am taking my last pre-req's next semester before I start the nursing course in September.

I would LOVE SOMEONE TO TALK to about the program....

I know school keeps you busy but if you have a minute.. please email me to chat..OR.. please offer some words of wisdom for a returned "older"(30) student..

THANK YOU!!!

Congrats. Just a quick note. read the syllabus when reading for the material. You dont want to read unnecessary material. Practice your math skills. Those should be free points when you take your exams/quizzes. I just graduated and it was a stressful and great experience all together. you will learn a lot. If you have any questions. you can PM me. Good luck and keep your eyes on the prize. :smokin:

Thanks!! :thankya:

Propranolol. Its Funny you mention practice your math..>>> I brought the Pharm book beginning of the fall semester and my intention was to practice over the break...>> I will defiantly take your advice: You have a wonderful holiday!! :christmasball:

I too have been accepted into their nursing program but decided to go against this and go to Monroe College in the Bronx instead. I have a friend who attends Trinitas, and she says it is very hard to keep up. I personally hear this from all nursing students regardless of what school they attend. Nursing isn't a easy job and training should be difficult. If I were to attend a school that didnt push me i would actually be more scared than happy. However, some professors are more tough than needed, but overall it shall only benefit you in the long run. Sometimes easy isn't always best. Anyway, Congrats on your acceptance, and I am sure you will do you best!!!! Good Luck and Happy Holidays!!!!!!!

I was told by several students that Trinitas program is hard. In my first semester a young lady mentioned that everyone in her Nur 232 class had failed. I just have to face it since I transferred from BCC. Monroe is a great school and their program seems to be do able since you have to be a LPN first before you become a RN.....>> Good Luck!!

Any updates from any students currently enrolled? I just got accepted (I don't even think they got my college transcripts yet!) but wouldn't enroll until Fall 09. My #1 choice is Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing so this is just my backup.

Just wanted to know how everyone's semester has been going so far!

Hi are you a student at Union County College? Are you referring to the Trinitas Nursing program?

Specializes in CTICU/CVICU.

No, I'm not a student there. I just got accepted. And yes, I'm referring to Trinitas.

Hi -I have a question about UCC...if I want to take my pre-req's there in hopes of going into their nursing program, do I apply to a different major or take the classes as a non-degree student?? Thanks!

APAG1020,

You have to apply as a nursing major and be listed as a nursing major. The code for Trinitas (NURE I think) has to be listed in your file. I hope this answers your question.

The code for trinitas is EGHN. the nursing courses in the catalog will be listed as NUR. good luck.

Thanks for the information - I have since applied and have been accepted so my next step is to start taking my pre-req's. I have a question about which chemistry is better to take - CHE105 (Chem for Health Sciences) OR the CHE113 and CHE114 combo (Inorganic and Organic Chem). Does anyone have experience in one or the other and what the pros and cons are of taking either??

THANK YOU! :nuke:

They recommend you to take the Chem 113/114 combo if you plan on going for the BSN. I took Chem 105 class. This was the first chemisry class I ever took. The most difficult part was with the conversion factors and the math stuff. Math and I are not the best of friends if you know what I mean. Despite all that, I got a B+ which shocked me, but I was so glad to get that grade.

If you are registering now, I took the lab and lecture with Prof. Pauwels (I guess it's spelled like that). He's easy going and explains the material well. Also, he was kind enough to hold a "study session" before the final exam. Whichever one you take, take it before A&P I. You will need the chemistry for at the beginning and you will have it out of your way.

Thanks so much! I think I will eventually go for my BSN, but would like to get my ASN first and then do an RN to BSN program. If I am already an RN when I go for my BSN, the chem that I took won't matter too much, right? Or should I still go for the CHE113/114....I'm just afraid that it will be harder and more overwhelming to have to take both courses instead of just CHE105. Any thoughts?

It may even depend on where you go for your BSN. Research which schools you would like to attend and see what they require. Even if you just take Chem 105 for the sake of getting the ADN and go for the BSN later, you can take the required chemistry classes at that time. I think they recommend you take the chem combo so you won't have to take it later or if you go for the BSN right after finishing at UCC because of the articulation agreements they have with other schools. Just do what works best for you.
