Uni Application Is In!

Published

I've officially applied for Nursing now! Put in my application today, so now just have to wait for the results. Should hear back around November I hope. I'm going to do it via distance education through UniSA as I'll be living in Tasmania by the time I start and it won't be too much of a flight (at least in comparison to what I usually do).

Fingers crossed!!!!

Hi C

Great news!! I'm so happy for you.

I too went for an interview at a private gastro clinic - very swish and VERY exclusive. The surgeon who started it is a world leader in procedures such as endoscopies and colonoscopies, and he patented a whole new computer program to book the theatres. I'm going to be doing all the reception/admin/clerical/billing and theatre coordination. I will also be assisting as an RN and learning how to do biopsies. The NM rang me last night, and I was so excited I couldn't sleep (my eyes are hanging out of my head!) I start early tomorrow.

I have a strong feeling/intuition that you will be successful for this, and my feelings are NEVER wrong, ie: contacted my ex-boyfriend interstate cos I swore something was wrong/had happened to him; had been feeling this for a month or so. We chatted and he said nothing bad has happened, then when we talked a bit more he told me he accidentally crashed his car and wrote it off (a month or so ago!)

Seriously, they would not get you to pick an interview time unless they were REALLY interested in your application, as so many people put forward applications now.

I will cross all my fingers and toes 4 u!

Seeya!

Well done Carol. I hope it works out well for you. Glad you are excited about it! You sound very happy!:yeah:

The more I think about it, Mid I think is where I want to be. How's is it going Carol?;)

I hope I will be right to find a job when I finish nursing...

Howdy guys! How you goin today?

The GI clinic job didn't work out. I worked about 7.5 hours with NO BREAK, just learning all the reception/booking/billing etc, and was going to be learning all the gastro nursing stuff the next week. I had had a very rushed orientation the week before but that was it. Got thrown right into it.

Anyway it was really busy, which I don't mind as it makes the day go faster, and had no dramas at all. I completed my tax file form, bank a/c details etc then left work. I had had no feedback or anything, just got my roster for next week. I felt tired and hungry, but happy as you do when you have done a good day's work.

At home later the nurse manager rang me and said she couldn't find my tax form for me to get paid next week. I told her I left it in her in-tray and it was about the 5th form in there (when I left as she gets a lot of mail etc), so it couldn't have blown off or anything. Then she suddenly said what did you think of the day? BEFORE I could EVEN answer anything, she was rattling on saying, I don't think you will fit in here! I was speechless! I hadn't even had time to answer or do a de-brief or anything. She did not give me any feedback or even have the decency to talk to me at work, just basically rings up and says I don't think we want you back. So I hung up on her. She was a very manic person and obviously she didn't like me or I did something to **** her off. It would be nice to know! I was going to talk to her but have learned from past experience that there is no point. She wasn't even listening to me, just raving on and raising her voice down the phone (which I cannnot stand - it is SO INCREDIBLY rude). So I can't be bothered with those people now. I was too angry and speechless to talk.

Also had an interview set up for a permanent community nurse job for tomorrow, but they just rang and told me their funding wasn't approved so that is off the cards now. I will go back to agency work so that is OK but this job was permanent so I am disappointed.

I have had no luck lately!

Sassy, you will find work believe me. You just need to hang in there, stay back after lectures and do extra learning/training (like I had to do) with some things I didn't understand. Do any training courses you can and get as much experience during your clinicals as possible. Bug everybody with tons of questions, cos that is how you are going to learn. The RNs may get testy but just ignore it; it's never personal, they just get busy. Agencies will take you but do try to get a GNP ASAP after you finish your 3 years - then you will practically get a job anywhere.

Hi Ceridwyn, I haven't been posting on here much, trying to get some uni assignments done. I am struggling a bit, it is a huge workload, but very interesting. I keep saying to myself: just wait till you finish and you can add those extra letters below your RN title!

Also, I know this sounds juvenile, but got in contact with my ex in Adelaide (long story), and now he calls/texts/emails me, and I am missing him like crazy. I didn't have his numbers b4 cos my new mobile got stolen so I emailed his sister. But he has now given me his new mobile and work number. I have known him for 18 years. We didn't have a big bust up, just had different goals in life and went different ways. Now I feel like my heart is breaking all over again and can't concentrate on anything, and I am starting to get tearful over him. I am being a silly goose I know, but I can't help missing him, as we talk and get on really well, and have many common interests. I really thought I was over him; now I just wish I was back in Adelaide near him. I can't sleep, have lost interest in eating, find it hard to concentrate on studying, *sigh*

I am still praying your applications will be accepted - you both sound like great sheilas and that is what we need for nursing in Australia.

Please email me privately guys - I like hearing from you. I don't think I will be posting on here again for various reasons. I can give you my private email address if you want.

Look forward to hearing from you!

That's a shame. If you're planning on studying external maybe try applying to different universities to keep your options open?
