UNF Summer 2014 BSN hopefuls

Published

Hi everyone!

With the deadline only a little over a month away, I figured we all need a place to stress, hope and worry! I just took my first stab at the TEAS and hit the average score of the past few years (335). I have a 3.9 GPA. One pre-req left. Applying for ABSN. I'm scheduled for a second TEAS attempt next month. How is everyone else doing? Drooling over stats as much as I am?? Any interview preparation plans?

Honestly I wouldn't sweat that too much. A lot of my current classmates never had any experience. I think the key is where you want to be and can you handle the course work. Also fwiw, the nursing program is big on community involvement so any volunteer work in the community is good!

Thank you for the optimism sunbaby :) I am just being overly paranoid from nerves! :D

I was really nervous at first. Once you go in you talk to some current students. We really try to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. The faculty that are interviewing really want to see you succeed. I love the program! I am so in love with my cohort and I've made amazing friends. The instructors are all great and really want you to learn the material.

Man this waiting part is rough! Idk what I'm going to do if I get in. I'm sure I'll have to put down a deposit before I hear back from any other schools on acceptance. UNF is a great school. I hope I make the cut!

I agree!! Ready to go right now!! Thanks for the insider info, you two! I hope we're all classmates. Rock the interview and we'll all be fine!!

Did you guys see that the stats from this cycle are up on the fb page? I see that there are 162 total but I'm really curious as to how many people are interviewing for each program.

"

Good morning!Several of you have written and asked about the summer application data. I can tell you that there were well over 500 total applications submitted for the term, and at the time of final review, nearly 425 candidates had active applications on file &/or had submitted TEAS scores. Our first action is to determine who has TEAS scores and active applications on file, which was about 350 individuals; however, roughly 75 of those did not submit TEAS scores to the SON Admissions Office by the deadline. This left about 275 candidates to be considered for interview. We are pleased to announce that we were able to invite 162 candidates to interview for the 72 total spots (27 APL, 45 RPL) for the summer. These invitees averaged 338 TEAS points and 3.72 in their prerequisite courses (the two factors that are used for interview ranking). They also averaged 3.51 in their cumulative undergraduate GPAs, but this factor is not used for ranking candidates. Interviews will be held at UNF on Friday, March 7th in four timeslots; eight groups of candidates will meet in each of the slots. Decisions should be issued late on March 10th or early on March 11th. Mandatory orientation for those admitted will be held on May 8th & 9th with no exceptions issued.I hope this information is helpful to candidates as they look toward future applications and wish the best to those we will meet on March 7th!Beth Dibble, MSCJ, MPSAssistant Director for Admissions: Nursing & Physical Therapy Programs"

Yeah I was wondering the same thing! Most of that info was included in the interview invite

The people who are not accepted in to the ABSN program, but qualify, will be offered a position in the regular 2 year program. That is essentially the "waiting list". So if someone on the ABSN list decides to go to another school the next person in line will be bumped up.

I saw that she put the stats up but I was kinda sad it wasn't as robust as it has been for the past years. She usually will tell you who declined, how many for ABSN, etc. Guess she was too busy?

But we're all interviewing together. There are ABSNs that will get offered regular and will take it. So we're all competing against each other essentially. But, I really think for the interview we are mostly competing against ourselves by making sure we include all we want known.

I don't think experience is going to be a hang up from what I have been told by the admissions folks

I think she generally puts up more robust stats after the intervews/once decisions are sent out. I was bummed to not know the breakdown of ABSN/RBSN candidates too.

Hi everyone, just found this chat. I am a 2014 summer Accelerated BSN applicant. I am wondering for those ladies who got an interview, what do you plan to wear? I keep going back and forth between a business suit or a pair of dress slacks/skirt with a nice blouse. Thoughts??

I'm going the professional dress/blazer or skirt/blouse plus a blazer route. I usually wear dresses in my everyday life and buisnesswear for women includes dresses and skirts so I think it will be fine. As long as you wear something professional and neat I think it will be fine - it's not an interview for our fashion sense!

Edited for typos.

I agree with Sarah, I really hope if we dress professionally, beyond that we won't be judged on it.
