Anyone else applying to UNF accelerated/traditional BSN for summer 2015? I'd love to talk to anyone about the application, TEAS, stats, interview, etc. I'm already getting pretty antsy about the whole application process!
Hello,
I am new to this website and will like some input from students or potential students that will be heading to a accelerated nursing program. I have B.S. in Biology but have decided to pursue a career in nursing. My stats are as follows:
3.1 cum gpa ( I did horrible the first couple of years and it took me almost 7 years to get my degree)
3.3 last 60 credits
4.0 in pre reqs ( for accelerated nursing program)
I'm currently working for a university as a research associate under an NIH supplement grant that was awarded to me. I have co authored 2 research papers but I am afraid that all of this will mean nothing to a nursing program. I have around 200 hrs of shadowing and will continue to do so until I apply. What are my chances of getting into a program? Is there anything else that I can do to strengthen my application?
Thank you so much for you help!!
lidia16,
Have you taken the TEAS yet? If not, definitely take it. The initial round leading up to an interview is based solely on your Pre req GPA (much important than the cum GPA), cum GPA and TEAS score. If you make the cut, you'll be invited to an interview. During the interview is where you would want to make aware of your past accomplishments. As for your stats, it depends on the group. My academic advisor told me to shoot for a 335 TEAS Score and above a 3.7 pre-req GPA to be competitive. Good luck!!
I think so too! I'm so nervous. How would I know if I got denied? Do I get an email or do I just never hear back?
They said at the interviews they'd mail out invitations, rejections, and wait list offers sometime Monday. However, if you don't want to wait on the mailman you should be able to see a change in your application status online by checking UNF myWings on Monday or Tuesday. As of right now it should say "Departmental Refer" as the status.
I'm really nervous too. I felt really confident before the interviews but now I have no idea.
