Hey Everyone-
I haven't seen a thread for the UNF 2012 Accelerated BSN yet so i figured I would create one. The previous classes seemed like they got a lot out of sharing with one another so hopeful we can do the same. Feel free to share any information you have, where you are in the application process or just any woes or worries. Let try to help each other along in this stressful process.
Later and good-luck,
Eric
My student tab just says BS Nursing, so I'm thinking that means traditional. This may be a better pace for me anyway. I think I will be able to work part-time, maybe in a hospital, to network and such.
Danielle, I guess you have a tough decision. I know for me, I would rather not spend 43K on a program, when I could spend 1/4 of that even if the more expensive program graduates me a few months sooner. Does JU offer substantial scholarship dollars?
So if I am not a student, but not admitted, denied or wait listed, what am I? Lol :-) Thanks for all the responses, this forum is so helpful!
Alf, I would call the nursing dept. I think they gave us a number on the e-mail that went out a day or so before the interview. I mean what do you have to lose at this point. The letters are in the mail, so they can't change their mind just because you called.
So I emailed the nursing dept. and I was accepted into the summer RPL track. :-) There was a mistake when they tried to change me from the accelerated to the regular and it came up incorrectly that I was cancelled. Although I am thrilled, I had my heart set on the accelerated track. Can someone remind me how the wait list works? Do those accepted into the rpl track who applied to the accelerated track get bumped up first, then those on the wait list into the rpl track?
So I found the answer to my question regarding the possibility of "bumping up" from the RPL to the ACPL on the facebook website.
"Hey guys! This is just a reminder that we do NOT reveal one's rank on the waiting list. Also, those of you who are eligible for ACPL and were offered RPL seats are technically waitlisted for ACPL seats through 5/9. Should we move you up to ACPL, we'll fill your spot from the actual waiting list. Letters went at 1pm yesterday and you should wait on them instead of emailing me prematurely d/t a decision you don't understand in myWings."
It is good to know that there is the possibility of getting bumbed up to accelerated. I really will feel a lot better about everything once I get the official letter in the mail. Thank you to everyone here who has lived through this process the past couple of days and has shared his/her thoughts and information. You all have been so helpful. I guess tomorrow is stalk the mailman day!
I am in the same boat as a few of you - accepted into traditional but wanted accelerated. While the traditional is one extra term it is also nine months longer - there is no option to take classes in the summer of 2013 for those accepted into the summer traditional track. That means 2012 summer non-accelerated students will not graduate until May 2014. A person could potentially earn a good bit of the cost difference between UNF and JU (accelerated) in those 9 months? Just another perspective. I am trying to figure out the best decision too. Thanks to all for posting your thoughts on this - they have really helped!! Best wishes to everyone!
Futurebsn2b- I'm having the same thoughts as you. I am single and on my own, so that means 9 months more of loans for living costs, 13 mores credit hrs as well as 9 months without income as a nurse that I would be making had I gotten in the accelerated. I'm currently assessing my finances and hope I can do it, but it is a big cost difference.
