Understanding Chemistry before A&P

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi Everyone,

I am taking A&P1 next semester, I'm really excited before it, except I know that from the textbooks and other students that there is obviously a chemistry component to it, but my problem is I have had NO background in Chemistry, not even in high school. Does anyone know of any good websites or books that give a quick overview to understanding Chemistry without a whole textbook? Like, maybe even Chemistry for Dummies?:nuke: I want to study it a bit and get a general grasp before the semester starts, which is not until the 20th for me. Even the chapter in my A&P book is a little over my head.

Thanks!

don't fret about the chemistry stuff, really. it is very basic and will be explained to you to the extent of which you need to understand. if you wish to still study ahead, look at the terms and try to understand the language of the chemistry. like what is an atom? a molecule? what does it mean if they are positively or negatively charged? .....you get the idea.

some awesome study guides for the chemistry are within the study aids for a&p itself. i had the "straight a's" version. it was a very good one that i purchased from barnes & noble.

hope this helps

i agree with this. my last chemistry experience was in the 9th grade and that was loooooong ago, but i didn't have any problems with the chemistry in my a&p courses - as a matter of fact to me that was the fun part. :)

the book we used for a&p i was "chemistry for biology students" - it breaks down everything you need to know.

My class requires "Chemistry for Biology Students" too. I also picked up "Get Ready for A&P" which 6 sections are: Study Skills, Basic Math Review, Terminology, Body Basics, Chemistry and Cell Biology. I am taking Chemistry along with A&P I this semester and I haven't taken it since HS (20+ yrs ago).

prior to taking A & P, i had bought a book called A&P for dummies!!!

it was great!

Please also note to google basic chemestry, there is a ton of info to get you startend and understanding! i would definately recommend that once you are not familiar with chemestry!

I love this website here : http://www.biology.arizona.edu/biochemistry/tutorials/chemistry/page2.html

chem is easy, but like any other subject, some find it hard!

just get on this website and you will start learning it!

also youtube: basic chemestry!

there you go... get online and get going, and afterwords, see if you can pick up that A&P for dummies! that helped me a lot!

now you have lots of homework to do LOL!

thanks everyone!!!
