Understanding Chemistry before A&P
Hi Everyone, I am taking A&P1 next semester, I'm really excited before it, except I know that from the textbooks and other students that there is obviously a chemistry component to it, but my problem is I have had NO background in Chemistry, not even in high school. Does anyone know of any good websites or books that give a quick overview to understanding Chemistry without a whole textbook? Like, maybe even Chemistry for Dummies?:nuke: I want to study it a bit and get a general grasp before the semester starts, which is not until the 20th for me. Even the chapter in my A&P book is a little over my head. Thanks!

Funny Names
wow this thread has me cracking up, I'm a triplet and I'm so glad my mom didn't name us with something like Kerri, Kari, and Kyrie or something like that, lol, although we were baby A, B, and C for the first few days.

Anyone taking an EMT too?
thanks, I'm a pretty slight person and not incredibly strong, I'll have to see if I can manage that (probably can), otherwise I'll have to start working out and lifting or something, lol.

Anyone taking an EMT too?
Thanks everyone!!! I was just wondering, I'm sure they will answer this in the class, but I was wondering if you have to be able to lift a certain amount of pounds or if there is some kind of physical test?

Medical Terminology Book Recommendations?
I have Medical Terminology for Healthcare Professions, its a great book, and also gives you an overview of diseases and anatomy. Mine is pretty beat up and has a lot of writing in it, so you'd probably be best getting a new one! Where I went to school last year, I think they used the one luckygurl mentioned. I took med term this semester and I love being able to watch House and know what they mean when they say things like "hepatic encephalopathy" and "transveryse myelitis" :)

Should I take Chem, API, and Micro in same semester?
I think you know you best. I know personally I couldn't handle that, but hey GO FOR IT!!! If priority admission is what you really want, I think you should. And if for some reason its not working out you can always lighten the load and try again. I admire you for even thinking about it!

Anybody else struggling with anorexia and bulimia?
Hi- I'm 20 years old and have had anorexia since I was 12, with some bulimic behaviors. I'm now a pre-nursing student. I have been in hospitals well over 20times, and that is what has inspired me to be a nurse. The nurses were the ones that helped me the most. Last year I was forced to go on a medical leave after my first semester of college and go inpatient once again. I am back in school now and finished this semester well, but am struggling quite a bit. I'm sick of the struggle and I know I have to stay healthy to stay in school, and I want to because I want to be a nurse and be an excellent one. I'm glad I found this thread. I hate this disease and struggle and just want to get on with my life, but I DON'T KNOW HOW. I've been to all the best hospitals and treatment centers, and know what I NEED to do but its just a matter of doing it. But WHY is it so hard?

Most Embarassing Nursing Moments
Michelle, You are priceless, so are ALL these stories. I just read them from page one. I'm still in college, but I'm sure I'll be back soon enough to add my own stories.
