UNC Chapel Hill ABSN - Summer 2022

Hey everyone,

I'm planning on applying to UNC Chapel Hill's ABSN next month in the hopes of getting accepted into the Summer 2022 cohort. Didn't see a thread for 2022 so I figured I'd start one. Good luck to everyone applying this year! Also, if you're currently in the program or have previously completed it, please feel free to add your experience, share your thoughts, etc.

Congrats! That’s awesome! What did you do that you think got you over the waitlist to admitted hump this time around?

Well since I had already graduated, my grades weren’t gonna change, but they were pretty decent. So I just really focused on extra curricular, I started volunteering more and also really worked on my essays to help them stand out! When I talked to them after being waitlisted they also recommend trying to work in a clinical setting if possible. Hope that helps and best of luck! Definitely don’t give up!

Same, but hopefully more people will deny their spot so we can accept!! I don't like the idea of having to wait all the way until next year to find out LOL

Congratulations on the acceptance, I saw you mentioned you got into Duke as well --awesome, and good look with your future endeavors. I am doing some digging and am curious if you would be willing to share your stats/ maybe your essays responses? I am applying to the next cohort and would just be helpful, thank you either way!

Of course! So I called and went over my application with someone from the admissions office and they basically told me to focus on trying to get more volunteer and clinical experience. I already had a job as a healthcare recruiter so I didn’t want to change jobs, but I did focus on getting volunteer hours. I spent a lotttt of time on my essays to try to stand out as well since it’s an area where you can really make yourself stand out. I also think they like to see you are committed to the profession and reapplying really shows that you are. Hope that helps! Best of luck to you!!

We should definitely make a facebook group for our cohort! Is anyone good at that kind of thing and wanna start it? I have no clue how LOL
