Hey guy's. I wanted to go ahead and create a thread for everyone applying for the Absn program in 2016 at chapel hill. Please share your thoughts, concerns or anything you may want to talk about.
Yes, it is a pretty fast turn around to find a flight for next weekend! I am also coming from California, that is a relief to hear we might be able to post-pone the meeting.
Although going out for the pre-orientation would also give a good chance to scope out housing and all of that fun stuff...Anyone familiar with the area know of good places to live?
I just made one - https://www.facebook.com/groups/uncabsn17/ or search "UNC ABSN '17" - I'll check it later and approve requests to join! Also if anyone is going to the orientation this Sunday, let me know - I'd love to grab lunch before!
Can you ladies who got in PLEASE help me with suggestions on how to start this essay...I am applying for the May BSN program and I am struggling trying to get this essay started! Also can any of you provide your stats!? Thanks ladies!!!Crossing my fingers that I will soon one day join you all!:)
Hi MrsBarron07,
I'm hardly an expert on the application process but something I did in my essays is of course address the question, but I kept tying it back to how that would help me as a nurse. For my first essay I wrote about a health situation in my family, but I explained why that situation impacted me and how it will affect me as a nurse, how it will make me better. Also, read and reread and reread your essays. I started writing months before the application was due..would put it down for a week or two then come back. That way you have fresh eyes and can really omit the unnecessary things.
Speaking from experience, if you are a second degree student applying for the BSN program make sure all your pre-reqs are done. If not, don't even bother applying..for the past 5 years I was told they have had so many second degrees apply they just cut all those with pre-reqs in progress.
My stats: Graduated in 2011 from NC State with Psych and Sociology degrees (3.9 gpa). I've worked in public health research for 4 years and have been volunteering for 4 years with sexual assault survivors. From what I've heard, volunteer experience is really important. Good luck!!

I called and they said me missing it was fine. They had me email the compliance office to set up a one on one (which I bet you could do over phone or Skype!)
