UNC Chapel Hill ABSN Summer 2020

Published

Just wanted to start this to for everyone applying to the UNC-CH ABSN Summer 2020 program.

Hi everyone! I received my acceptance email yesterday! I am so excited to start my nursing journey. I am from the San Francisco Bay Area, so I'd be a long way from home. Does anyone know if there is a Facebook group yet?

I was going to ask the same thing. I don't think so! Any volunteers to create one? ?

I have no idea how to make a group like that on Facebook, so please let me know if someone is doing it!!! Would love to join and meet all of you.

I'm way not cool enough to do something like that either...any takers???

Also, I haven't received the information on the February orientation signups. Am I missing something?

When you click accept on the reply form (link in letter) it will make you select one of two dates to sign up for preorientation.

I’ll attempt to make a group on Facebook. I’ll comment back with the link

If the link doesn’t work, try searching for unc ABSN 2020

Oh fun! I'll join. Still waiting to hear back from my current in-state, which would be a good deal cheaper than UNC but since I won't hear back from them until March (!), I'm going to start mentally thinking about life back in the triangle area! Looking forward to getting to know y'all

Did you both decline admission into Duke, I also got into Duke and waitlisted for UNC...it's almost worse than getting rejected.

I'm just wondering if you both are still considering Duke or not? I think I'm committing to Duke and crossing my fingers I get off the waitlist before classes start on 06Jan2020!

I have to give my 2-weeks notice this Monday and I hate myself for having to do it so close to Christmas, but I'm not passing this opportunity up! I am committed to nursing school even if I'm in debt for 10 years! ?

@jeezlouise I initially placed my enrollment deposit but I didn't get any financial aid and can't afford the 1500/month for 10 years payment (no cosigner). So unfortunately I had to withdraw my commitment.

@samantha3smith

Thanks for the reply, sorry to hear about the lack of aid. I didn't get very much either, but its better than nothing. I'm just planning to commit to a MSN quickly to bridge the pay gap. I'm taking a substantial pay cut going into nursing, it's more important to find a fulfilling career for me. Best of luck on your nursing journey! I'm crossing my fingers you get into UNC! ?

Happy holidays everyone!

Had anyone’s admission status officially updated online yet? I feel like I can’t properly relax until it does!
