UNC Chapel Hill ABSN Summer 2020

Published

Just wanted to start this to for everyone applying to the UNC-CH ABSN Summer 2020 program.

Hey! Thanks for creating the thread. I am surprised more people have not posted. I am currently working on my application. Have you submitted yours yet?

Specializes in CNA CT Step Down.

Hi, I am applying as well!

I am so nervous, reading through the previous UNC threads has made me feel super unqualified. UNC SON is my dream school ?

I am still working on my application! If you don't mind me asking, what are your stats (GPA, experience, etc)? I have read through the previous threads and I feel like UNC will be a stretch, I don't have the best grades. Have you applied to any other programs? I applied to Duke and got in but it's way too expensive.

I just recently graduated in May from UNC Charlotte with a biology degree. I finished with a 3.330, not bad but not stellar.. My school did not do the + and - grade scale but I have A's in anatomy II lecture and class, statistics, anatomy I lab and the US Diversity course. I got B's in anatomy I lecture, micro lecture and lab and general psychology. I was super involved on campus. I served as an orientation counselor, a mentor to first year and minority students, a representative in our student body government and various other organizations. I also have a lot of community service hours; I volunteered pretty consistently with various community groups all throughout my undergrad years. I recently just took a position as medical scribe at an orthopedic and sports medicine clinic, but I do not have any other patient care experience. I am definitely applying to other programs but Chapel Hill is definitely my first choice and the first program I will be applying for. Duke has an amazing program, it just sucks that its so expensive.

We have similar stats! I graduated with a history degree with a 3.37 and we have similar grades for our pre reqs! That’s an impressive list of volunteering experiences, I haven’t volunteered as much as you have. I do have a experience as a CNA. Have you started your essays yet?

I have. I have not gotten very far tho. How about you?

I haven’t gotten far as well! I’m still working on putting in all my transcript info. What other programs are you planning on applying to?

Is anyone's transcript "still not received"? I transferred schools so I have one in but not the other! Can I still submit my app?

I sent mine electronically and I got a confirmation that they were received and processed within about 5 days. I think the transcripts have to be received before you can apply but I would call UNC to double check. I hope it is received soon!

Hey guys! I literally just decided to apply yesterday. I was accepted to Duke for January 2020 but ultimately decided that $100k is way too much for me. I don't have much volunteer experience, but my GPA is in the 3.5 range so I hope that that will help a little bit.

Hey! I was accepted to Duke as well and decided not to go. It seems like a great program but it’s so expensive. Good luck applying to UNC! I saw in an email that they’re accepting 104 students this year.
