I just finished submitting my applications to UMSON today. I know that it is early but my life is very busy with 3 kids and school so I wanted to just get it done. I have an excellent GPA and great TEAS score, but I have like zero experience in the medical field. I never volunteered in a hospital or had an internship or anything. The resume that I sent in with my application looked more like a work resume. I have volunteer experience besides for medical experience but every post that I am seeing with people excepted to UMSON seems to stress volunteer experience or experience in the medical field. Do I stand a chance? Im totally panicking now and have such a long wait!

To start off, I think you ARE fine! You have excellent GPA and TEAS scores, so this alone should get you in. I have read many threads as well which discuss the 'importance' of volunteering and/or experience in medical field. As you see I used the word importance in quotation marks because it is so subjective. RN programs, at least the entry ones, are designed for students who want to become nurses, and have zero experience in the field. Yes, many may have science background and should take up sciences as pre-reqs, I see no objective data to suggest that those with medical experience or volunteering have better chance at it. I may be wrong on that, but like I said in the first sentence, you should be fine with your stats!!!

I think you'll be just fine. I don't have any medical experience either. That's what we are here to learn! Good luck. I know it'll be a while before we find out, but at least we can do it together! I will have my application complete by next week.
