REMINDER!!! The deadline to submit your Fall application is nearing. As of now, the deadline has not changed from February 2 (short of 4 weeks away).
This is my second time applying--I was wait listed for the Spring term. Currently, I am studying to take my TEAS exam again on January 27th. This exam was the only portion of my application I was not confident in. I scored a 70% without refreshing my memory on key concepts by studying before hand. I did find the test to be a "you either no it or you don't" kind of thing so from personal experience--STUDY!
I have no outstanding prerequisites and my sciences are as follows:
AP1. -- B
AP2. -- A
CHEM -- B
MICRO -- A
I had the privilege of chatting with the last group of students and found this forum to be quite helpful! Please use this post as a way of communicating, sharing experiences, and giving advice. Hopefully, we will be classmates in the Fall!:)
Hi faa, I sent you a friend request, which I think, if you accept, will mean that we can start messaging. Check it out.
Hi BusyBee,
Unfortunately, I can't communicate with you via private messaging because I'm still fairly new to the site. I did receive your private message but it would not allow me to post a response.
I just wanted to ask if you could offer any advice for an incoming CNL student and more specifically how you prepared for your first semester (i.e. did you begin reading your textbooks early and did you find any of them useful). Also, what did you think of your first year at UMSON?
Thank you!
So exciting! Congratulations, guys! I'm new to this forum, but have been to many Open Houses for this program and it is still my number one.
Do you have any information from them about what makes a competitive applicant? Volunteering, shadowing, etc.? Is that important for this program. I'm working on my statement/resume now for Spring 2016 admission and would love any assistance!
Thanks!
Best of luck on your application! I have no hard evidence but have been told that being well rounded makes you most competitive---so having good grades, good TEAS, volunteer/medical experience. You don't have to be perfect.
In the essay, I've been told that it's good to let your personality shine through. Tell a story that illustrates a point versus listing all the things you've done. You'll never get everything in 200 words so if you can write a few memorable experiences that link into why you want to be a nurse and why UMSON is the place for you, it will stand out with the committee.
I also made sure everything was there in time and had my professors resend recommendation letters prior to the deadline if they did not show up on SURFS. I took the opportunity to write all 3 essays versus just the required 2. Since I have been out of college for some time, I included a professional reference in addition to the two academic references required for BSN.
Good luck!
Hi Everyone!I was wait listed for fall 2015 term. I was wondering have any wait listed applicants hear back? any news?
No news yet. As of next week, i have to move forward with my backup school... you know, just in case. Still, we have until the first day of class to receive acceptance from UMSON.

I've used craigslist int he past but UMSON has its own roommate search page: UM Community Classifieds - Current Postings - University of Maryland, Baltimore
And general UMSON apartment search link
