Hello everyone! I applied for the Fall BSN program as well. This is actually my second go at applying to UMSON, as I was waitlisted the first time (last year). So I am truly hoping that I can get in this time. So should we be expecting decisions around April then? Best of luck to everyone!!

Shanlil, when did you graduate from Salisbury. I graduated from Salisbury in 2011 with my bachelors in exercise science also!

Do you know which factors are the most important for application based on your experience?

I am curious because admissions said that some students are not accepted even though they have high GPA or TEAS score.

Many of the questions here have been addressed in previous cycles threads.

After the deadline for applications passes it seems to take 1.5 to 2 months to hear back. For spring applications were due Sept. 15 & the first calls went out November 1st, to about november 20th. No one knows what order calls are made... seems to be fairly random, but could be they work from top and bottom of list and work their way to the middle where people started getting waitlisted. Also seems like only 10-15 students are waitlisted at Shady Grove and 30 or so for baltimore campus.

To answer the question for the person who asked why UMSON rejects students w. High test scores, GPA's etc. The admissions board, from what Greylady has said in the past, weighs each portion of the application equally. That being said GPA, TEAS, letters of recommendation, essay, resume, and experience are all measured as a whole to determine the strongest overall students. So just a good GPA and TEAS isn't enough to convice the commitee but it levels the playing field and is a pretty good model IMO for finding students that are prepared to succeed in such a rigorous program!

Thank you queserasera! I also read all of the other threads and it answered most of my questions.

I sent in everything for my application already, but all I am waiting for is one more reference. I actually have two references that emailed me this week saying they mailed them in. One also emailed it to the address they provided. They both told me this Monday and Tuesday, but the system hasn't been updated and still says requirements outstanding. Do they count when the letters were post marked or do they need to physically be there by the 3rd?

I hope this doesn't hurt my chances since I asked my references back in November and have been sending weekly reminders. They just waited until the last minute to send everything in.

If anyone has any insight please let me know!

Amanda- I received an e-mail earlier from admissions saying that any document received during the week of February 3rd will be accepted and processed. Also, I talked to someone in person yesterday and she said that they have a lot of people submitting stuff right now so it might take longer for them to update SIMS. So it's entirely possible that your recs are already there but they just haven't had time to update it yet.

I just called this morning to make sure and the lady had to search for the email because it was missed on Friday. She put it in the system and my application is now ready for review. Fingers crossed, good luck to everyone applying!

I turned in the rest of my application today in the mail (my resume, pre-req list and one extra LOC). I almost had a panic attack because I thought it was due Feb 1st and I got to the post office thinking it closed at 1pm but it closed at noon! I'm also applying to Salisbury as well as Towson and Coppin State. I'm just glad all of this application crap is over!! I'm crossing my fingers for UM or Salisbury but I would prefer UM because it's much closer to me and I wanna take a break from DC and give Baltimore a try!
