  1. Hi aviator! I think it depends on what kind of housing you're looking for. Marlboro Classic, Inner Harbor Lofts, and the Sail Cloth are all on streets running along campus so you get the benefit of having an extra layer of security from campus police. If you're not used to or comfortable with living in a more urban city yet then those are great options. There is also another apartment building called the Zenith a few blocks down that is across the street from the Hilton that is nice. All of these buildings are close enough that you would not need to drive or take public transit. Charles Towers and the Standard are both further away from campus. You will likely want to take public transportation to get to campus from here. I also know that the university provides a bus shuttle service for students that passes through Mount Vernon. Not sure if it passes through Charles Village. I know people who live in both of these neighborhoods and love it. We chose to live close to campus until we get to know Baltimore better. While Mt Vernon, Fells Point, Fed Hill, Canton, etc are definitely cooler neighborhoods to hang out in, we chose convenience over style since we knew very little about the city. I think it depends on your own perspective though and the type of city that you're used to navigating.
  2. Wait, what?! I thought the school said it would be mid to late April before we heard back! So anxious...good luck everyone!
  3. Hi! Unfortunately, I don't have much to add to your list (I've been looking at the MHEC website as well). I'm disqualified from a lot of the scholarships offered because a) I'm not a Maryland state resident and b) I already have previous bachelors degree. I've read that Saint Agnes and Mercy offer scholarships similar to UMMC's Clinical Scholars Program (i.e. you work at the hospital for the number of years which they provide you aid). I would just look up hospitals in the area that you think you might like working at eventually and see if they provide scholarship opportunities.
  4. The ATI Manual has essentially everything that you need to know in it. I would start with that. If you need extra practice on the Reading, Math, or English and Language sections then McGraw Hill has a TEAS specific booklet that has five additional practice tests. The science section is tricky. I would recommend making sure you know the topics addressed in the ATI science manual section very well (beyond just memorization). I was consistently getting in the 70s on all practice tests (ATI and McGraw) that I took for that section but ended up only missing one question on that section on the actual test. The McGraw Hill sources that I looked at for the science section had a lot of superfluous information that is not covered on the TEAS but was good for the other three sections. Ignore anyone who tells you not to study. This test is a factor for nursing school admissions and the makers of the test even provide you with a study manual. Why wouldn't you study?! I found the ATI study manual to be an extremely accurate indication of what topics are covered on the actual test. I studied it for two weeks, took the test and did well, and do not need to spend money taking it a second time. Buying the ATI manual is worth it.
  5. Amanda- I received an e-mail earlier from admissions saying that any document received during the week of February 3rd will be accepted and processed. Also, I talked to someone in person yesterday and she said that they have a lot of people submitting stuff right now so it might take longer for them to update SIMS. So it's entirely possible that your recs are already there but they just haven't had time to update it yet.
  6. I live downtown already so I applied to the Baltimore campus. queserasera- I'm expecting the worst but hoping for the best!
  7. I'm only applying for UMSON. I don't know much about the other programs in the area (recently moved to this part of the country) and I really like UM's curriculum and facilities. Fingers crossed that I get in but if not then I'll apply to more schools for the next application cycle.
  8. I am! Taking the TEAS Friday and then my application should be complete!
