UMSON fall 2016 hopefuls ?

Hello all, I am planning to apply to UMSON in the fall 2016. I haven't seen a thread yet for other hopefuls and potential candidates. So I wanted to start one.

Congrats to all who have gotten in!! I applied to Shady Grove too. Still in the waitlist though :(

By other back up school was also waitlisted so I hope I make it. Still haven't received my letter and email for next step of the wait list. Did anyone on the wait list actually got in afterwards? I'm confused as to why there is a wait list while people still have committee ready as their status. Read on one of the previous posts that wait listed were qualifying students that were not as competitive as the top candidates. And I worked so hard to finish the prerequisites too!

I just graduated from UMD college park two weeks ago and my final transcript is done. Should I send in my final transcript even though I'm on the wait list? Thanks!

I'm on the Wait List for Shady Grove as well. There were a handful of people on past threads that posted they got off the Wait List, but so far no one on this thread has posted that they got off the list for this fall.

You should definitely send in your final transcript, though. It could help if seats open up and they need to make decisions off the Wait List.

I emailed admissions last week and they notified me that the process of taking people off the Wait List can last through the second week of June. But we have to keep in mind that we would only be taken off if accepted applicants decline their offer and seats open up. I have tried gauging when accepted applicants get their official letters/emails because they have two weeks to let admissions know if they decide to attend and to put their deposits in. Once those two weeks are over, they would go to the Wait List if there were any accepted applicants that declined their offer.

I'm not sure how many accepted applicants will be turning down their offers so it's just a waiting game for us now.

I thought I should send the transcript too since in my last semester I finished the rest of my prerequisites. However, I calculated my science GPA and it dropped below the required 3.0,to a 2.981. I'm not sure if that will negatively impact their decision. :(

It doesn't hurt to try though! If you see terpmerp's post from earlier, they said that the admissions committee considers a lot of factors, not just GPA. Keep the faith :)

So I just called Admissions and they said they are already starting to pull people off the wait list and we will know by July. The wait is making me so nervous :nailbiting: :(

Ah. I have this odd feeling that I won't be getting off the Wait List this time around either... but I just found out I've been accepted to my back up school and am going to accept their offer for admission. Second time around and UMSON still didn't want me heh :'(. Wasn't meant to be for me.

Congrats again to all those accepted and good luck to everyone else on the Wait List/hasn't heard back yet! I hope you hear good news soon. It was a fun journey with you all on here :D

I only applied to two and I'm wait listed for both so really hoping for some good news from umd. Lol I should have applied to more.

Good luck to everyone on the wait list. I'm gonna need it cause I feel like I might not make it either.

@Quiet sunshine: I finally got the letter from the school telling me what to do, Thanks! Yes, I do have a back up school, I was accepted into Howard University's upper division nursing program in D.C., they actually start classes for the program June 27 so hoping to hear back from Shady Grove before then.

I've just checked my status and it said Admit-Institution on Decision.

What does it mean? Please help me.

Actually, I just checked my mail box, and I found the letter from the admission!

I got into the umson Baltimore!
