Hello all, I am planning to apply to UMSON in the fall 2016. I haven't seen a thread yet for other hopefuls and potential candidates. So I wanted to start one.
Hi mjnurse23! Can you give us "waiting CNL folks" a little insight on when you submitted your application? Also how your interview? oh and your prereq grades?
NitaRN0916 - Sure! I submitted my application the last week of January, but it seemed like some of my supplemental materials weren't processed until February 2nd or 3rd. They didn't contact me for an interview until March 30th, and then the actual interview took place on April 4th via Skype. I actually didn't feel my interview went that well, but that might have been due to some technical issues at the beginning. It seemed to be about 10-12 minutes long. I found out I was accepted on April 11th, although Ms. Jackson, who was one of my interviewers, told me they'd make a decision in 3-5 weeks.
For pre-reqs:
A&P I and II: A
Statistics: A
General Chem: one A, one B (I submitted grades for Gen Chem I and II)
Micro: B
Nutrition and Human Development are currently in progress
My overall GPA is only a 3.26, so I'm wondering if they look heavily at prereq grades versus all classes. That is very much a guess, though, because I know there is so much more that goes into an application than just grades.
This is replaying to someones (I forget the user name) post on page 18 and regarding the traditional BSN letter date. I got the same answer (end of April). The lady was kind of rude about it, because what I was really calling and asking about was if the online application status would be updated at the same time as the letters were printed or sent out. The lady didn't even let me finish my question before she said letters will be going out at the end of the month. But to answer my initial question, she did say that the online application status would update before the letters. So I am not sure if that means it is all done at the same time and there is just a delay with the physical mail or if online is a day or so ahead of printing out the letters. I hope this makes sense what I am saying lol?
@ElizMcc56, hm... in the past people had status updates online but didn't receive their letters until a couple weeks later. Maybe all the statuses are changed first then the following week/weeks they mail out the official letters? I guess this is so people who actually go in and check their statuses have an opportunity to know before the letter arrives because preparing to mail things takes a good amount of time, especially with the large # of applicants. Or it could also be a way that the admissions committee tracks who they have notified already. There's a lot of different possibilities... we may never know exactly what they do haha.
This was how it worked for the CNL notification - my decision status changed on a Friday and I received the physical letter about a week later. This is replaying to someones (I forget the user name) post on page 18 and regarding the traditional BSN letter date. mjnurse23, thanks for that info! So helpful :) That confirms that the people who applied before February were the ones that got their interviews and admissions so far. For all of us still waiting, I think that they really should let us know by this week though, because I've heard back from pretty much every other university.
Also I keep checking my online status on Surfs and it still says "committee ready for review" so as long as it doesn't say "rejected", I am still in the running for an interview, right?
It seems like only about 3 people on this forum have been admitted to the CNL program so far! So maybe this year they are just way behind :/
My application status says, "Complete Ready for Review" and my decision is Committee Ready. It has been like this for a month and half. I'm hoping we all hear back before April ends! I don't think they've ever took this long for people to hear back. Hang in there guys, hopefully we all hear back good news!
