UMSON BSN Spring 2014

Published

Hi everyone! I created the BSN Fall 2013 topic, but I couldn't apply at that time due to family issues. So now I'm applying for Spring 2014! Anyone else applying? :]

Sarahpcat,

If the admissions work as Spring 2013, we'll hear back starting from Nov. 1. I'm counting the days we've left assuming that they might work similarly.

"can't help but wonder if fewer students applied this cycle, with the deadline pushed back and one of the least active AllNurses forum in ages." - Great thinking! I'm going with that as well!

This nervous feeling is rather contagious. It just sucks that all of the other schools have already made their decisions, but my number one pick has yet to make any move towards a decision. But good news all! One of my friends has an interview today for the masters program at UMSON, so it should be soon that we hear something, probably after the slew of interviews from the other programs. Let's keep our spirits up!

I'm not sure exactly what I'm feeling now. I'm not really nervous, but I really, really want to know yea-or-nay. I tell myself, "I'm not gonna check today" but I do anyway.

I applied to another school as backup but UMSON is my #1. I've heard from neither, so I wait. Thankfully, I have other classes to keep me busy. If I didn't have other things on my plate, I would go stir-crazy waiting to hear!

In the meantime, I got math to keep me busy. :writing:

Hello everyone, first I just want to say goodluck to everyone in getting into the program! I am another year away to applying into the program, but still very excited. I wanted to know if anyone is willing to give out their GPA's or any other helpful information because I am afraid that it will just be a joke for me to apply for this particular program. I am currently going to CCBC and have a 3.2... but have 8 more classes to take and currently in two. So I know I can raise it but don't really know how much until its all done and over with. I have had my CNA for 5 years and some work experience at Bayview, and a very partime at home care postion and also planned on volunteering a little. Sorry for being so off topic, I am just trying to be as prepared as possible. I would really appreciate any input, maybe from someone in the same boat, anything. Thanks so much, and an early congratulations!

moonwisper come talk to people at the open houses, you should receive much more satisfactory answers - there are current and former students and we all are very honest and open with people about our own backgrounds/experiences etc.

From personal experience, I can say that for UMSON it is not just about the GPA or the NET or whatever - it is the WHOLE packaged person that is looked at in the process. They are looking for applicants that are well rounded and will be the most amazing nurses - and they are good at selecting them IMHO/E - and i say this not so much as an alumnae but as someone that has worked with these students on the floor, from comments i have been told by very experienced nurses and by people that have been cared for by UMSON students/graduates.

To everyone else here still awaiting an answer - I remember three years ago being in your shoes - the time will pass as hard as it seems right now - just breathe deeply and think of the projects that you'll need to get done before starting school and start them now to help distract you until you hear!

best of luck to all of you!

sandi1743 I have question for you, I was wondering before the 1st day of nursing at UMSON were you assigned pages to review? From what book? Was it all about reviewing everything that was in A & P? I am still waiting to hear back from UMSON but I am trying to be optimistic about my entry into the program. I've been reviewing the muscular system anything that would distract me from worrying.

Perhaps too optimistic :)

Alright guys my guess is 1st round admits will be hearing friday. What is your guess?

Just to be positive. I would like to say the same! Needless to say, I still have been checking my status every single day to make sure nothing has changed yet.
