Hello! I am in the process of applying for the spring 2012 semester at the Baltimore campus!! I didn't see any threads out there yet for people who are applying so I figured I'd start one :) Feel free to share gpa, TEAS scores, etc and any updates on admission!! GOOD luck to everyone!
Well, I got my CPR certification today. One thing checked off of my to-do list before January! Shots and blood titers are on my to-do list for this week.
Does anyone know when registration starts for classes this Spring? I know I saw it on the UMD SON website SOMEWHERE but I can't seem to find it now that I'm actually looking for it!
Congrats! I'll be doing CPR on Wednesday night. Going in for titers tomorrow. Gotta find out where I can get my TB test done inexpensively (I don't currently have health insurance). Are there any set deadlines for all of this stuff? AACC was very clear about their deadlines, but UMB doesn't seem to have anything outlined.
Here's the dates for registration:

online registration starts Nov. 21. My guess is we'll all be on there ASAP trying to pick the best of the class times bright and early that day!

November 21 Winter/spring 2012 registration for all students begins
I received one of my undergrad degrees in Maryland, still have a lot of connections and am moving back which is why I visit a lot. But again, I was just wondering how my own chips were stacking. Thanks for the response.
I am not from Maryland but New Jersey if it makes you feel any better :)

It is on the UMD School of Nursing website under Accepted Students. Click on the link for your campus.
So I'm looking over the class schedule trying to figure out the best times for me. The recommended or "sample" coursework includes NURS 304 (intro to practice), 315 (pathopharm), 320 (research), and 330 (health assessment). I noticed that there is a conflict in times, though. 330 (health assessment) meets on Mondays from 2-450 (there's only one section) and 304 has a module section that meets from 2-4 or 2-5 (but only for 5 weeks in march & april) for all sections. Anyone have any ideas how this'll work out?
Double check the course numbers. I think it's 333 instead of 330. Look on the registration page and it tells you exactly what to register for. I did the same thing and have a tentative schedule written down. It seemed to all work out but there were a couole of conflicts I had to work around.
Oh, haha. Thanks. I'm elbow deep in forms and documents, got my numbers mixed up! Yeh, the time for that is a little better. Monday morning. Looks like I'll be on campus all day Monday, Tuesday, and the first half of Friday. I'm assuming open labs and clinicals will be Wednesdays and Thursdays?
Also, do we need a physical or just need to show proof of immunization & the TB test? The health form was really short and it just seems like we need to show proof of immunizations. Although, when I went in to get my titers done, the doctors office ordered a drug screen/urinalysis for me. We don't need that for the school so I'm sort of annoyed they ordered that. Not that I mind a drug test- we'll probably have to do them for a few clinical sites, but it seems like the doctors office tried to slide that one in under the radar without me noticing.
I just sent in all my documentaton today. Luckily was already CPR certified and up-to-date on all vaccines and had my flu shot and PPD tests done at the hospital where I volunteer. I guess if you are looking for an inexpensive way to go and would like some in-hospital experience too, maybe try volunteering somewhere. You get a free flu shot and PPD tests because they are required. Plus I love Bayview where I volunteer...great experience!
So to add to the questions about scheduling. We need NURS, 304, 315, 320 and 333, correct? I saw NURS 330 floating around above and was a bit confused. Anyway, does anyone know how long it takes to get between classes? Are they all located in the same building? Because I could create a schedule where I only go three days but there are two instances where I have 10 minutes to get from one class to the next. Don't know how that will work. Also, the instruction sheet says something about NURS 333 having a lab as well but that is not detailed on the class list. Where do we get info about the schedule for the NURS 33 lab? NURS 304 has lab times listed on the class schdule, but 333 does not. Also sinc eit is our first semester we just fill out the add/drop form or do we need the Approval to Register form as well?
Ahh somewhat overwhelmed and confused! Thanks!
Disregard the 330. That was a transcription error on my part/I have blonde hair and a 4 year old demanding my attention. 333 is the right class number.
I got the impression that registration is done online. If you go to the "accepted students" on the main site, it'll direct you where to go to register. I think we have to set up our UMaryland logins and stuff. I tried to do that yesterday, but I'm guessing since I'm not in the system yet, it won't let me sign up until my deposit is received.
