Just thought I would check to see who else might be applying for Spring '09?
Yeah!!!! Congrat's to you!
Yes, I was told they do stagger, but the fact that they have made some decisions is good! I really, really want to know. If I don't get admitted I'm going to drop Algebra this semester and take it over the summer. I'm killing myself here!
Anxiou2b- you were applying for Shady grove, correct? I need to go downtown and I think they have more applicants...more to sort through. I guess we'll see soon....yeesh.
I think I applied on the 19th of August, although they received all the requirements on the 3rd of September. I took my prereqs in two different schools - a University and a Community College. My GPA from way back was also very low so I decided to retake everything. Then, I was able to maintain a 3.75 overall GPA and a 4.0 Science GPA. I also took a more challenging Chemistry and Microbiology courses. I think it is way to early to worry. Just wait......Good luck!!!!
Cool cool! Well congrats, maybe if I get accepted I will see you there! LOL
How was your NET scores? Yeah I took classes at CCBC and now UMBC to finish up, but the only thing that is hurting me is my classes from almost 98-00 but those classes that I used from that school is the elective courses which I mention that was low. As long as they just calculate the required courses I think it won't be to bad. My resume/CV have a pretty good background, I currently work at Hopkins doing research and authored a few scientific papers too. Hopefully they weigh my experience in also!
My application is ready for review but they lost one of my letter of recommendation, its an auxiliary one since I they do have my 2 academic ones but I want it them to have it to. The person that wrote it for me will send one out overnight so I should receive it tomorrow. She said she will send it out to the school and to me in a sealed envelope then I will just probably hand deliver it also.
Thanks! You guys are so qualified. Don't worry too much.
ClhRn2b - Yes. I intend to go to the Shady Grove campus.
Bikerdude - If there's anything in my admission requirements that I'm not proud of, it would be my NET scores. I got a high math score, but my reading comprehension score wasn't that great. I run out of time in the reading comprehension portion. Don't even ask what my score was. My professors also gave me outstanding recommendation letters. I think that was a plus too. I tried hard to write a good essay, as well. Anyhow, you guys RELAX! :smokin:You will get your results soon.
Good luck to all of you!!!!
Yey!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!! :yeah:I'm so happy for you! Yes. That's it! You can start calling people now. You are definitely in. I think I'm a bigger dork than you for checking it five times to make sure they did not change their minds or made an error or something.....Haha....Now all we have to do is wait for the official acceptance letter.
Yes I just started the program this fall. As for what to do next, I believe you will just need to formally accept the spot in the program, and they will mail you an information packet. I actually found out I was accepted when I got my letter in the mail since I was getting on my own nerves checking online all the time, so I stopped lol. But yeah, when it says decision made: admit- institution, online that means you're in .
In the hardcopy acceptance letter there is a form they want you to send back to them if you are accepting the spot, so I suppose that would be next the next step.
They should mail you out a packet of info once they finalize the class list, although I never received mine in the mail, and I ended up just going up to the school to pick it up in person. That information will help you know what to do next. HTH
Congrats anxious2bnurse and clhRN2b2010!
I'm new to the forum and was happy to see a thread about spring applicants to UMD. They just posted my acceptance online for the Shady Grove campus this evening. I am so excited! I can't believe it's actually happening.
Good luck to the rest of you! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you :)
