UMB Spring '09 applicants?

Published

Just thought I would check to see who else might be applying for Spring '09?

Hi guys,

I have applied to UMB for Spring '09. I was wondering if you guys know when we should expect to hear if we've been accepted or not. I am really anxious about this whole process.

Welcome! I expect to hear by Mid October, at the very latest. I was told that they try to get it done within 4 weeks but sometimes it stretches. That doesn't stop me from checking my stupid UMB admissions page daily though :typing

I'm pretty anxious too, but genuinely feel like I have presented the best I could to the admissions committee. I have a back up plan, if UMB doesn't work out and it will be fine. (I certainly will be bummed though) Keep us posted!

Hello to you both!

ClhRN2b2010 - I submitted my application for Spring '09 finally! I thought I won't make it to the deadline. But apparently, UMD decided to extend the deadline for Shady Grove. Haha...I'm doing exactly what you're doing, checking my status each day for no reason. I hope all of us get in! I feel like I'm getting older and I really want to get my nursing education started.

Have you guys applied anywhere else? UMD is the only University I applied to. If I don't make it this time, I will try again next semester...

Good luck to both of you!

UMB is the only school I've applied to. I just recently decided to apply for the program. I was pursing a BS in Information Systems Management at UMUC, but I have always wanted to be a nurse. I've been going to school part time and working full time for so long and my husband and I realized that we could now afford for me to go to school full time. So I decided to go for it!:yeah:I think I have so much anxiety because I didn't apply to another school, but we'll see what happens. Best of luck to both of you!

You're not alone! But, don't be too hard on yourself. If things don't work out the first time, we can always apply again. I was also working full time while taking my prerequisites for BSN. It has taken 3 years to complete all my prerequisites. I'm also anxious. As long as you know that you've tried your best to make yourself a competitive candidate, you can leave the rest to fate.

Hi everyone

I've been glancing at this thread on occasion for some time now. Just learned today that they have all my application info and that its ready to review. Now of course the terrible waiting game starts...ahh!

Out of curiosity, did anyone send in more than 2 letters of recommendation? I know the website says two which is what I sent to the campus myself...But I looked on my application site the other day and discovered a psychology professor sent a letter in without my knowing :imbar I had asked her to write me a letter several months ago but she ended up going on vacation and we lost contact. Apparently she remembered the letter though...

Do you guys think that would harm me in any way? I hope not. I'm not too worried about it but it would be nice to get a second opinion.

Good luck to you all and I hope to see you this spring!

No, it won't harm you at all..unless ofcourse she had terrible things to say about you!

Someone ask this question in one of the info sessions I attended. They said two is what they request, but additional ones will be read and considered. Your Psych prof is totally appropriate. If you were sending letters of recomendation form your 4th grade Sunday School teacher that might be a little over the top!

Have you guys checked your status online today???? :yeah:

Is your acceptance posted???

Yup!

This is what it shows:

Application Status: Decision made

Decision: Admit - Institution

Yey! I keep on checking it to make sure that I'm not reading it wrong. I still can't believe it.

Hey how long ago did you apply? I submitted my application a week before deadline . I was taking 12 credits this summer :banghead:, it was a pain in the butt. Then when classes was over I had to get my butt into shape and complete the application process.

Took the NET exam the day after I submitted my application online! I didn't do to bad, 100% on math but 68% on reading :banghead:. Anyways, where did you go to take your pre-reqs at? I'm just wondering on my chances on getting accepted. I took classes way back in the day...well not to long, less than 10 years ago! Then I recently went back to school to do all the pre-reqs for the nursing program, I had an average gpa of about 3.4. But when I did the course in progress form I calculated my gpa it dropped to a 3.0, that's because of the stupid elective class :crying2:, during the days I didn't care about school...which was way back. But then I shaped up with all my pre-reqs, busting my butt to get A's and B's. Hopefully they see that as a positive trend. And I am rambling in the wrong thread!!
