UMB 2010 Fall Applicants (BSN and CNL)

Published

Ok guys, this is the new thread for everyone who is applying to the UMB FALL 2010, BSN or CNL Program . Good luck to all.

Has everyone's status gone: Complete Ready for Review?

Just curious Shelly, you heard about the CNL program or BSN program here at MD?

Hi, FierceRoller, I'm not sure what you mean by your question. How did I learn about the CNL program at the the University of Maryland? During my Anatomy and Physiology courses last summer, one of my classmates told me about the program. I researched it, went to the information brief given by Mr. John Riser, spoke with one of the program directors, asked tons of questions and also spoke with a couple folks both beginning and just graduating from the program about every aspect I could think of. I spoke with some nurses that have been long-time friends of mine and discussed all the pros and cons of this unusual trek of study.....weighed it heavily, and also, very importantly, discussed it with my husband. Last, but not least, I discussed it with some of my mentors, including previous professors (PHD and MD). I am elated at my acceptance and although I am hearing from my friends that this school is killer-challenging, I am so thrilled and getting things ready for the rigorous days ahead! I hope I answered you question!

Oh! FierceRoller~~~ Do you mean, "where did I HEAR about my status change?" I checked my application status on the University of Maryland website....the same area of their site where we logged on to apply. Is that what you mean? I went to the UMD page,

http://nursing.umaryland.edu/

clicked on the ADMISSIONS tab near the top of the page, then clicked on the APPLY NOW tab over to the right, clicked on the CNL tab in the yellow-tabbed section, and down towards the bottom of that little section, there's a RED LETTERED link which says GO TO APPLICATION. There, I put in my user name and password. After I was logged in, I clicked on Application FALL 2010.

I hope I'm not coming across goofy, because I'm not sure if this is what you were asking or not. Anyway, cheers!

I think she might have been asking whether you applied to the CNL or BSN program. You seem to be the only CNL applicant on the board who heard back so far. Congrats! I know there are a bunch of us here who hope to be joining you in the Fall. I hope we will all hear one way or the other soon.

:)

Grey Lady- any insight on when the rest of us will hear? It seems strange that they roll out the decisions so slowly. Does this mean the process might drag on for a while?

Hey JamieHR! Ok. Got it. Yes, CNL. I am hopeful and standing by with anticipation to hear back from you all. I think this means that everyone's going to be finding out very soon! You don't need luck, but best wishes all the same! Go JAMIEHR! :D

It does take a long time, mainly because a faculty admissions committee must be convened for a final in depth review of all the Committee Ready people. Faculty do other things (like teach!) so we can't sit them in a room 24/7 until all the applicants get their review. Also, the first students selected have to decide whether or not to accept the offer - they are given two weeks - and if they take the entire time to turn down the offer their spot is not available to anyone else until then. So the moral of the story is, when you get your offer (and I hope ALL of you do!) accept or turn it down asap so somebody else hears that much sooner.

Thanks Shelly you answered my question.. Who knows because I work there as a post doc and have not heard, but you have may applied before me and gotten all your stuff in so, it would make sense that you would maybe know before me. I got everything in the last week of January into Feb so I may have been waitlisted.. either way I hope to hear soon Good luck to all:)

yeah Jon is nice he looks like that designer form Clean House... Mark Brunet...

Shelly, when did you get your application in? Just wondering if there is a specific order they are going through the applications. It definitely makes sense for them to review the earliest applications first. Hopefully we all hear from UMD by April.

I agree with the previous poster.. Good luck.. Maybe we will get a acceptance letter in our Easter baskets...ha ha:D

Has anyone else gotten their letters or status updates this week? I haven't gotten anything yet and my status is still the same. Im really starting to get anxious now!

Hey Hm I seen this when I got back from lunch and I have not received anything yet in the mail or in my staus being updated. I think we will hear the first week in April so maybe the the week starting the 5th...I know it is frustration setting in but you will be getting your acceptance letter shortly I know it:)

I just talked to Ms. Meaghan George, an admission specialist. She said all the decision should be made around mid April (Yes, I'm anxious too!!).
