Ok guys, this is the new thread for everyone who is applying to the UMB FALL 2010, BSN or CNL Program . Good luck to all.

Has everyone's status gone: Complete Ready for Review?

oh ok. I think i'm just gonna go with that too. "No new is good news at this point", that kinda makes me feel better..lol

thanks good luck to everyone still waitin

UMB just started their spring break so maybe they will update everythin by the end of the week since they have extra time : )

I figured that no one would be working over Spring Break and we wouldn't hear until the following week. Is that correct?

you definitely won't hear until next week! so no need to think about it. They always say they'll have it done before break but it never works out. I think you guys will know by Monday or Tuesday latest!

Just heard from another 2 friends of mine (BSN applicants) that their status changed yesterday to "provisional admit." So apparently they are there during spring break making decisions...

Or it could mean that the decision makers have gone on spring break and the people who enter the decisions in the system are finally getting caught up. In addition to the BSN and CNLs, there are all the grad school applicants to enter and there are way more of those than BSN or CNLs. But as of close of business today, UMB School of Nursing offices are closed tomorrow and Friday so I would not expect any more changes.

So everybody, chill out, go outside and get some sun on your face, and enjoy what is looking like a fabulous weekend a' coming. No more worrying until Monday at the earliest. Promise me! :)

words for thought:

so i'm officially half-way through my first semester at umb son and love it! the admissions office- is working really hard- they have a lot on their plates with, conferences, meetings, academic files, and all of us bugging them for our clinical sites..... etc.

so here it goes, things i've noticed since getting in on the 'inside'

1. the cnls for us are very competitive and are angry currently that they are paying a lot of money for a bsn/general msn... maybe that'll change as the semester goes on... or not?

2. i got lucky with a cool lab group and a great lab instructor, i go to open lab a lot and my first validation for 304 was smooth sailing... not so much for those who skipped out on open lab... i know some of my classmates got down to their 3rd and final attempt, which was nail-biting for them, to say the least.

3. if i can stress anything: know your ap1 and ap2!!! patho/pharm has not been hard for me because my former teacher in those areas was psycho and i learned them cold... not so much for some of my friends...also, i bought the lehne textbook and it has been helpful. don't try to skip out on textbooks to save money, tuition is 4300+ so saving $150 is silly if you get a bad grade- may i stress amazon, and sign up for the free shipping... i did.

4. everyone has switched to dansko shoes (i did too, my grandpop bought me a pair, since my others weren't cutting it and he took mercy on my limited financing ability)

5. we just got our clinical sites and a lot of people got upset because they assigned them to us... yes, the administration is crazy like that and we couldn't be adults and 'pick' them.

6. go to orientation, i went to mine... and man... it helped... i got to meet my lab group before school started, and i got advised to go and buy certain textbooks and we got a pre-reading list too...crashed my christmas vacation/work schedule...but it helped.

7. buy a littman ii se classic stethoscope... everyone did- allheart.com has discounted ones...i got my name on it through them when i ordered it... the tubing doesn't matter, it's a rainbow down here of steths in baltimore (they claim black tubing is the most 'borrowed permanently' at clinical sites

8. i have two moms in my lab group and man they are super-woman(s), they are struggling academically but they've gotten a hold of it... then i have all kinds of ages, races, backgrounds in my lab group, but we all work together, it's pretty cool...

9. i have the luxury of not having to work, if you can pull it off too, do it... i'm working 3 jobs this summer to make up for it.... there is no way i could pull the grades that i am if i had to work, too....

anyways, good luck to everyone and what i have said is not the law... it's just my thoughts and opinions. :twocents:

Well, Roses, nice to see you back! You gave great advice, especially about the necessity for attending open lab. I have seen quite a few students who think they can learn the procedures and equipment by reading a book or watching a video. Some will show up at the last open lab before validations and expect one on one training from another student or lab assistant - NOT appreciated. Open lab is for practice. If the lab assistants have not seen a student enough to recognize them, we already know that student is in trouble.

Has anyone seen an update on their status yet? It's hard to be here in the final stretch!

I would doubt that there will be any status changes before the end of the day today or tomorrow as the committees are just starting up again today.

Hey everyone! I heard from U of M March 4th, and had 14 days to decide and put down a deposit. They said if I didn't respond within 14 days, they would start sending out more acceptance letters to other students. So if it was due last Thursday, admissions had all of Friday to decide who to send out letters to, so I believe if you havent' heard back yet, you will hear from them this week. Good luck and can't wait to meet the incoming Fall BSN class.

Thanks for all the helpful info everyone. No status changes here for me yet
