I'm in the process of applying to UMass Boston's Accelerated BSN program that will start in Summer of 2009. I'm wondering if anyone has any information about the program. Has anyone applied? Has anyone been accepted or heard back?
Also I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the housing situation. I've done some research and they said they were going to build residence halls to make the University more appealing to students who don't live in the area. Does anyone know if they have started the project or when they are going to start it?
I look forward to getting a response! :nuke:
caroline82,
OH MY GOD! I am terrified now! I guess I should really prepare myself for the worst! Because from the looks of it, the chances of me getting in are very slim! If they didn't want someone like you with good grades, who will they be accepting?!? I'm sorry you didn't get accepted! I wish you the best of luck in your journey to becoming a nurse!

No don't get discouraged, you never know, according to Umass they pick a diverse group. So what is diverse to them we will never know I guess. The coordinator said to me that "grades are not everything" this after she found out the mistakes they made. I just think they as a state school, their bureaucracy is very state-o . Therefore overlooking many applications, they certainly missed my transcripts and more. Again, do not be discouraged. Best of luck. If you get in, make sure to kick some @ss!!!

Yeah about that, I really really would like to know these people who have MBAs and applying into the BSN programs, the coordinator mentioned. She said, they had accountants, MBA's, and brilliant people with Engineering degrees from MIT. hmmmmmmm, I somehow doubt her words.
Just got out of my interview with them. They said that the people who went on interviews are most likely going to get a spot in the program. They are giving out decisions on March 20th and that the program will start around May 19th. It seems like they were interviewing someone every half an hr or something for two weeks.
So disappointed with UMB, I made an official complaint with the Chancellor, for them losing my application for months, ignoring my transcript and at the end telling me I didn't have a chance. I was also an alumni, and I just feel that they were awful throughout the whole application process.

Not to brag or anything, but 3.86 BA GPA over here and a 4.0 in all the prereqs, Umass Boston gave me a big R as well. Oh and check this, I called to ask for an explanation of WHY a big R? Their answer was...oh you never completed all the prereqs, while I had sent them my last prereq class in December (the transcript that is). Apparently they never got to update it in their system so they just discualified me. Then the coordinator told me I didn't stand a chance with a D in Statistics. I noted to her that the D in stats. was from 2001 , and I had re-taken it in 2005 with a solid A , so that clarified it. She still said that their pool this year was high, blah blah blah, and they had accountants and people with MBAs and multiple Masters apply to the program. Such BS , I am furious when I think about it. Oh yeah, I am also an UMB alumni, and I worked there for a year after graduating. So please don't feel bad, there is always a reason things happen. All we have to do is be persistent.
