UMass Boston Accelerated BSN 2009

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Published

I'm in the process of applying to UMass Boston's Accelerated BSN program that will start in Summer of 2009. I'm wondering if anyone has any information about the program. Has anyone applied? Has anyone been accepted or heard back?

Also I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the housing situation. I've done some research and they said they were going to build residence halls to make the University more appealing to students who don't live in the area. Does anyone know if they have started the project or when they are going to start it?

I look forward to getting a response! :nuke:

I graduated from UMB's first accelerated class, there were kinks because it was new, but it went by quickly and it wasnt too bad. I worked close to full time the entire program and still graduated with solid grades. If you dont have kids, there is no reason why you cant work unless you are the type of person who needs to study like crazy. Problem is there are no jobs out there for new nurses. Im still looking for a job and we graduated in late august. A few people actually went back to their old jobs and put nursing on hold. Hopefully by the time this new cohort gets out its much easier to find work. Best of luck.

lvontheocean and Billjeff,

Thanks for your input. I was recently accepted to the program!

I was wondering if you could elaborate on whether it was necessary to have a car for the clinicals or whether people made it by with public transportation?

Also - did you guys take out loans for the program? If so, were you also taking out loans for living? Did you find that the gov gave you a good amount of money or did you have to take out private loans for the majority of the program?

Thanks in advance!
