UMass Boston - ABSN Spring 2021

I did not see a thread for this cohort, so everyone interested in this absn program please comment!

I want to apply for the Spring 2021 cycle. Does anyone know what the total tuition including housing, books etc would look like? Can anyone who did attend this program share what their total costs came down to? Would be super beneficial!

@martijan at the info session they said they wait until the deadline to start reviewing applications. Generally, they start viewing them about halfway through the month (in our care, mid-October) and will notify us at the end of the month. We’re so close!!

So glad I found this thread! I applied for Spring 2021 and I’m so nervous! I applied in August so it’s been a long waiting game haha hopefully we all find out by the end of this month! I was accepted to Northeastern but if I’m accepted to UMB I will 100% go there because it’s literally like a fourth of the price hahaha

@IsabellaU Thank you for the info! I still check everyday knowing there won't be an update ?congratulations on getting into Northeastern! I didn't apply there but really considered it. I'm kind of regretting my decision to only apply to UMB this term.  

Does anyone know the starting rates for nurses in Boston?

I just got rejected from another school applied to because apparently one of my required courses did not meet the requirements. I sent an email to the school asking which course it was to figure out what happened and why I didn’t count. 

Im so anxious and upset. I only applied to two schools (UMASS and this one). RN, UMASS is my only hope. If I get rejected from umass, that means I’m gonna have to be out of school for another year. I’m already losing my mind. 

 

Anyone know any schools fhat are acceptinf for Spring 2021 and are affordable?

@Future.Derm.NP I'm so sorry to hear about your rejection! I would reach out to ---------------------- at UMB to see if that course will be accepted there to be sure. My plan was to apply to UMB for Summer 2021 if I don't get accepted for Spring. This would only set me back a semester. I am just planning to try to improve my essay and recommendation letters if needed. You could also look at UMASS Amherst or other UMASS branches.

I am thinking of doing the same! Are we allowed to apply again for the May cohort if we get rejected (God forbid)?

That's a good questions..I'm actually not sure. I just assumed we could. I should ask that. Hopefully we get in for Spring!

I read on the UMB website that we need to have our degree conferred by the application due date.  If I am getting my degree in December does that mean I don't qualify for the Spring semester of the ABSN program? I was under the impression we just had to have our degree before we started the ABSN program.  Can anyone clarify? Thanks.

I believe that you'd be able to apply for the Summer semester 2021 if you're getting your degree at the end of fall 2020. I'd always recommend getting in touch with admissions, though, as they've been incredibly helpful in my experience!

We’re getting so close to decision time! At least I think we are haha they said we should start hearing back by the end of the month. So nervous! If you’ve heard back please share! ?

So I applied to Fall 2020 and the class was full so they had me transfer my application to Spring 2021. But I found that out via the portal about 2 weeks before I got the letter in the mail so I’d recommend checking the portal every now and then!
