UMass Amherst Accelerated BSN - 2014

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Published

Hey everyone,

I submitted my application on February 1st for the UMass Amherst Accelerated BSN program that starts in August. I got an email a few days ago about setting up an interview either face-to-face or via the computer. I had to choose the computer option since I live in North Carolina. Anyways, my interview just ended and I wanted to see what others thought of their interview and such.

Also, I wanted to see if anyone who is currently attending there, had to have an interview before?

Thanks and good luck to all! :)

Congrats N'mah!!!!!!!! Yay! So happy for you. I am still waiting for my letter but hopefully soon :) woohoo!

Thank you Ally. By the way I live in NY so maybe those that are close to MA are getting the letters first. Good luck!

Hi everyone! Who else was accepted?? :) I saw on the letter orientation is July 16th! wooh so soon! I've been looking on craigslist, off campus housing, etc. Housing is hard to come by! Let me know if anyone starting the program is interested in talking about rooming. Looks like that is the best way to go seeing as all of the homes are 2bedrooms or more. Yay! So excited!

Yeah I hope to get mine soon. Hopefully by Monday, I know NC is a bit farther but I'm anxious lol. Yay for everyone!! ?

Hi,

Does anyone know how much housing usually go for (studio or 1bedroom or even room situation) in MA-Amherst since NY apartments are expensive down here. Just tryna get an idea and budget. What area(s) should I be searching for an apartment that is close by the school?

Thank you.

I've been looking on umass amherst off campus housing. I also look on craigslist but it is very expensive for studios and 1 bedrooms. I've been looking for people who need a roommate. Do you happen to know when we get more info on a timeline?

There are sublets and apartments in and around Amherst - try looking in Hadley, Sunderland, Amherst. Northampton might be a stretch but it's a really beautiful area. Also, the buses run daily and are free for students with their IDs. The rent i've seen varies I think from 400-1000, just check Craigslist.

Also, the major hospital is in Northampton and will probably be the location for your clinicals. That's also something to consider.

@BrittanySugden yeah studios and 1bedroom on Craigslist is expensive but not as expensive as what I am use to seeing in NY. Through my search I landed on the UMass off campus housing but thanks for that. I am also looking to find a roommate but don't know where to start. And what you mean info on a timeline? What timeline?

@stellakc that was very helpful information and thank you for that. If you don't mine me asking are you in the program or graduated? If yes to any of the question could you tell us more information that you wish someone had told you prior to attending (ex. Finding housing especially coning from another state, clinicals, professors, work load etc.)

Thank you in advance.

Still no letter. Hopefully tomorrow. You guys said the deposit is due on Wed? Did you guys pay it online? Thanks!

Hi everyone!

Congrats to those who have been accepted and good luck to those still waiting to hear! I got my acceptance last week and I'm so excited! I started a facebook page where everyone who will be attending the ABSN program this year can meet and chat. I know this blog doesn't want us advertising for roommates or anything like that, so I figured this facebook page would be a good place for all that. I got really creative with the name, you can find it under "UMass Amherst ABSN 2014-2015" =)

Look forward to meeting you all!

Hey brunettebelle - there's a form to sign along w/ a $100 deposit, which has to be postmarked by Thursday 3/20. I wouldn't be surprised if they're waiting to send out another wave of admissions after they hear from people on Thursday...I can't think of any other reason why they would ask for a decision/deposit so quickly after sending out the letters.
