Hi, everyone!
I am planning on applying to UMASS for the 2021 cycle of their ABSN program. I will be graduating in December of this year (2020) with my bachelor's in health sciences.
Anyone else going to be applying? ?

My course should have been acceptable based off of their programs admission requirements and they seemingly missed it on my transcript. I sure would have appreciated a phone call about this. I could never get a hold of anyone by phone in the months prior to make sure everything was squared away. I have my degree in Pre-physical therapy so I have taken multiple physiology courses. I asked for an appeal and the only response I got was "Here we go".
“Here we go” oh on that is not right from a school.

They said "here we go"??? What the heck. That is so inappropriate.
Wow. To hear other people going through something similar is quite disturbing actually. Especially those who have their degrees in a health-related field.
As for the admissions department, I understand the overwhelmed process, especially during these times...but hire more people if that is the case and also that response "here we go..." I am speechless. If I ever said that to someone I was working with, I would be fired and my license would probably go under review. And I agree. I can totally accept being outcompeted and all of that but if you missed this on my transcript/it was not communicated that the prerequisite was approved and therefore, I did not have a fair shot of being accepted/wait-listed then I think I should have an opportunity to at least ask for clarification. I am not asking to get accepted or anything. Just some accountability. There needs to be some follow-up on that one to ensure it does not keep happening. Unfortunately with the given circumstances of everything being remote and just about everywhere overwhelmed by everything, I do not see this getting better.
I responded very kindly to the woman who sent my letter via email (as it said that in my rejection letter that I could reach out to her with any questions and was encouraged to do so). I am not expecting a response anytime soon, but will continue to re-forward my email with more and more faculty/admissions office cc'd until I get an answer. I am really interested in the program and I guess maybe I can focus on planning my wedding that I have pushed off for the past 2 years during this time, and apply again next year? IDK... I am trying to be optimistic about this one. Might as well go take a Human Growth & Development course while I am at it because the anxiety of waiting was exhausting.

I'm really sorry this happened to you! I feel your pain tho. I am a Chemistry undergrad (grad 2013) and for a few schools the gen chem prereq can be 10 years old so I asked if my advanced chem class would fulfill the general requirement and they said no.... I scrambled and looked up at least 100 schools all over the country for an accelerated Winter chem with lab course....... so stressful! I didn't want to delay my apps so I'm grateful to have found the course
also, about the here we go.... I can see how the emailer is informal. For the acceptance letter, the email was basically empty with an attachment. No signature, no UMASS symbol, just a "Congratulations!" and the letter was attached LOL so IDK if I would read into the email content. but I would definitely check back in for the details bc it seems like an oversight from them
