UK RN to New York

Published

Hello fellow nurses. I am currently 4 years out of nursing school and working in Australia in Paediatrics as a RN. I did my BSc in Adult nursing in London. I am wondering if there are any UK nurses who got licensed in NY. I have just applied for the CGFNS last night. I understand I may need to do maternity ect. Second question anyone know of any schools in NY or the USA that offers this?

Thanks

Charlie :)

OK thank you for the info

Congratulations Charlie! Have you managed to secure sponsorship? I am unfortunately still having issues with the CGFNS, my University is resending my transcripts (for probably the 5/6th time) again tomorrow and amended them as asked. If they come back to me again and won't accept them, I plan to try and use Josef Silny for evaluation - this is the only other evaluator PA uses. Hope everyone else is having success, hoping I get answers soon, even if its no - at this point I just want to know where I stand.

@Scottish Nurse.

I used ERES and Texas BON and was issued ATT within 3 days. I know ERES only cover certain states. Is there a reason you want to go PA?

Hi Charlie

That's great hope it's all going well. I finally have my CES report and told a copy has been sent to Pennsylvania Board of Nursing. What do I do now? I've registered with PA BON but haven't applied for licensure by exam as unsure if PA will find my CES report acceptable, if that makes sense? Is that correct or did you apply? Just seems a waste of money in case they say I'm short of hours and don't meet their requirements

Many thanks

That's great. PA is where my husbands is going for work. Do you know what I do once my CES report from CGFNS has been sent to the BON? I have registered with PA BON but haven't applied for licensure by exam as still don't know if I have enough hours in each area to be allowed to practice as an RN in the US, is this correct? Or do I need to apply anyway? Just seems a waste of money if they don't deem it acceptable

Hello, I have just received my registration for NY state of education following my NCLEX. I am a UK nurse and I am looking for some advise on the application for jobs in NYC. Has anyone started the process of applying for jobs and getting visas sorted? I am also wondering if anyone has used recruitment agencies in the process. Any help would be great. Also happy to give advise for anyone going through the process with CGFNS and NYSED.

Thanks,

Sally

Hi I would be interested to know if you did your training in the uk as I am looking to go to USA as a nurse. Thanks
