UK RN to New York

Published

Hello fellow nurses. I am currently 4 years out of nursing school and working in Australia in Paediatrics as a RN. I did my BSc in Adult nursing in London. I am wondering if there are any UK nurses who got licensed in NY. I have just applied for the CGFNS last night. I understand I may need to do maternity ect. Second question anyone know of any schools in NY or the USA that offers this?

Thanks

Charlie :)

Hello,

Hope you are all well. I'm a student nurse currently in first year which the goal of moving to the US once qualified. I was wondering if anyone would happen to know on which sort of placements I can get obs/gyn, paeds, mental health covered. I've read that some people have mentioned A&E and community placements had allowed them to be covered for the clinical hours. Would those placements have exposure to children? If I have a placement on obs/gyn would that cover the deficiencies? Do you have any advice that I can take into consideration to help me move when the time comes?

thank you

Maybe during your elective placement, you could ask to do maternity? I got my approval for the NCLEX with no need to do any extra study ect straight from a UK adult nursing degree for New York state. I went to Kings College London. So, I don't know if it is uni dependent or if NY state is easiest to get approval maybe

Hi Charlie, I started the process with CGFNs a few months ago and waiting for my uni to send transcript to them. I was just wondering for the NMC to send the certificate of current professional status how did you get it sent to CGFNS? I just applied for this but it seems they are going to send it directly to NYSED. When enquiring the NMC also stated they would not fill out the form CGFNS supply, so how did you get your credentials approved? Thank you for any help!

Hi, I went on NMC account and applied for good standing certificate (it got sent directly to CGFNS)

no paper forms needed for NMC to fill out. Takes maybe 4-6 weeks to show up on CGFNS account as received

Thanks for the advice! I will contact the NMC about this. I was just wondering how long did it take for you to get your NCLEX date once your documents had been approved by CGFNS? Thanks!

No need to contact NMC. You just login into your personal NMC and look for tab for the good standing and pick CGFNS and paid the fee. 3 months once all received

Hi Everyone,

I would just like to encourage every UK RN trying to do the move to being a US RN that it can be DONE.

I have just received my CES Report exactly two month after I paid for the report to be done. Although, I paid for the expeditED review.

The major boost I had was my A & E placement I think. I was able to use those hours for the areas we usually are deficient in.

All the veryyy Best! What materials did you use? As a UK RN, I don't know where to start my reading from LOL.

Also, what BON are you applying with? I can't remember what to do after the CES report
