UK Nurse Registration Full Application and Assessment stage before OSCE

Published

Hi People

I am a UK born citizen trained in Australia hence I am going via the overseas trained route. I passed my CBT test and am in the full application and assessment stage.

I am interested in sharing information with people who are also in this stage of the application.

I commenced my application in 2013 under the old process which was rejected due to lack of clinical hours. I received a letter from NMC advising me of the new process. Like many people on this forum, this entire process has been long, drawnout, frustrating and tedious for me!!!!!!!

Hi Afro3726 or whoever had taken OSCE already

I was wondering that the six stations we have to perform do include any questioning and answering?

I know it may be difficult for you to discuss it because of confidentiality.But it would be a great help to know the structure of the exam.

please answer if it can be helped

thanks

Hi guys, I've just joined this thread. I have been applying for transfer to the UK for almost 4 years now. I had done an accelerated 2nd bachelors course in California so it has been a back and forth with them (as I kept applying even when they said no) and finally, they have said yes! I am now in the decision queue AGAIN since they needed me to print out one transcript form and mail it to them which they received on 29 September. They have told me once again that they placed me in the queue on that day and it will take up to 10 more weeks! Does anyone else know if it really takes the full 10 weeks even though they have confirmed that they have all of my other documents?

Hi

ya they said same to me.

the waiting time is 10 weeks now. I m

waiting to for decision letter . My application went in queue on 14 aug.

:no: This whole waiting game is terrible. I guess I've already waited 4 years, another 10 weeks won't hurt! I'm hoping they just say that time as an estimate but in reality a lot quicker

@Ig_lovliegrace RN

hey there... Thanks a lot for d information. I am in d q since August. I lived in two different Middle East before moving to UK... So I need to get PC from those places too...d process is so depressing..... Anyways just keeping d spirit of nurse and hoping I will get there one day. Once again thank you so much for d reply. All d best.

@tarshi4real

many tnx

Hi @daisy2206

Yes I took the cbt on May 21st and finished submitting the documents late August. As of now I'm on the assessment queue since September 3Rd. So just waiting for my DL.

In the meantime, I'm reading the Royal Marsden book and 3 others by Claire Boyd and Claire Merriman and following the thread here for some useful information. How about you what stage of the application process are you in. ?

Good luck everyone.

Hi Melcahussey, that's great news! I'm not in the app process, I'm lead nurse for practice development and am supporting our nurses through the process.

theres a very useful book you might want to access from your library. Nursing Knowledge and Practice (Peate, Wild & Nair)

I haven't done this test, but...

in an OSCE there could be other healthcare professionals, patients, relatives who you might interact with in the course of your duties - imagine that you are in your clinical setting :)

Hi @DAISY2206

Will it be possible to join you in your practice development as volunteer. ? I presume you are supporting nurses for registration but working as HCAs for the meantime.

I will be very grateful if you can help me with practice development ad it has been years since I have worked in a hospital.

Thank you very much.

Hey Everyone,

Just a few words of wisdom :) I sat my OSCE on Monday, found out yesterday I passed and now have my PIN (today). I cannot say anything more about the test but I think what Afro wrote was helpful to me also. People are now getting through so be patient and you to will pass.

Wising you all so much luck!
