Hi People
I am a UK born citizen trained in Australia hence I am going via the overseas trained route. I passed my CBT test and am in the full application and assessment stage.
I am interested in sharing information with people who are also in this stage of the application.
I commenced my application in 2013 under the old process which was rejected due to lack of clinical hours. I received a letter from NMC advising me of the new process. Like many people on this forum, this entire process has been long, drawnout, frustrating and tedious for me!!!!!!!
Hi @tarshi4real
What stage of the application process are you in a as of the moment. ? I'm waiting for my DL and I have been in the queue Sept 3rd. I'm gathering all the info I can about the osce since I'm interested to do reviews/training since I haven't worked as HCA band 3 and I have been living here for 7 years now. I'm waiting for my citizenship as I have applied last August. I feel I need the exposure to the hospital setup for me to be confident enough to take the osce. If you know of any good review or training courses can you please share it here in this forum. ? Looking forward to hearing from you.
Good luck And God bless.
I joined the assessment queue 3rd September as well, but i do not know of any review center, i personally plan of revising with the royal marsden manual and the study material that will be provided after i get my DL. however i have worked in the UK health system and i do know quite a lot about their system, i also did my masters in nursing here, but i am quite sure that the materials they will provide will be sufficient as the exam is entry to practice level. Besides the NMC have not approved any review centers. click on this link NMC Test of competence and see the video and the areas to expect and you can google or find more information online.
I took my CBT in march this year, i am presently on the assessment queue waiting for my DL to take the OSCE
Congrats on the CBT! How long have you worked in the UK, I am a Lead Nurse for Practice Development and am currently supporting some HCAs to work through this process. They have worked in this role for between 2 and 8 years
melcahussey have you already completed your CBT and application?
Hi @daisy2206
Yes I took the cbt on May 21st and finished submitting the documents late August. As of now I'm on the assessment queue since September 3Rd. So just waiting for my DL.
In the meantime, I'm reading the Royal Marsden book and 3 others by Claire Boyd and Claire Merriman and following the thread here for some useful information. How about you what stage of the application process are you in. ?
Good luck everyone.

Hi @tarshi4real
Thanks for the reply. I have seen that NMC site , it's very informative. The university does provide study materials once you have booked your osce, according to the thread here. Hopefully that would be sufficient.
We went on the queue the same date then. But nmc didn't send me an email that I'm already on the queue. I rang them up after I have seen all my documents received. Did you get an email stating the date of your entry to the queue. ? So it's a waiting game for us at the moment, my friend.
Good luck.

Hey nurses!
I submitted all my barcoded documents last Sept. 7 and all was received and put in the assessment queue by NMC last Sept. 17. This was also confirmed by e-mail! Things are speeding up! God bless everyone!
But about the COS though... Lol! I heard from my agency no hospital got approved last Sept. 11
Thanks Daisy, I have worked in the UK since March 2013 till date, and i was studying at the same time. I have just completed my studies in July and really hope i can get my Pin soon.

hi Melcahussey, i didn't get a mail as well, i rang them, i guess for some reason they miss out sending mails to some people. hopefully soon we will get our DL. they seem to be quite fast last month cos they uploaded my documents almost on the day they were received. lets stay positive.
