Anyone planning to apply to UIC's GEP for winter/spring 2012? (http://www.uic.edu/nursing/prospectivestudents/gep-about.shtml) The application opened on January 15 and is due March 1.
I just finished the primary application and am waiting to receive the secondary application to send out recommendation requests. Their application cycle is a bit odd and inconvenient, since most other places that start in the fall require deposits by late March into early April, and UIC doesn't inform you of your status until late April. But in the end, it's still a great program and worth a shot.
I applied for ACNP. I am going crazy with aniticipation!!!!! I refresh my email chronicly. I think I may have a problem...Sympamista: Buzzj is also for ACNP. You two have to post as soon as hear something so I know if I should expect a denial on April 4....
Don't be so negative! :) This thread has been viewed about 2,700 times so you're not alone in waiting for an interview notice-I have a feeling everyone on here will be posting as soon as they hear something. And, yes, I've also had my email open constantly (if you have Gmail, they have a tool that will show a pop-up notice on your desktop whenever you get a new email... it may only be available if you use Chrome as your browser, I'm not sure, but it's less anxiety-inducing for me than hitting refresh all the time-I can work on other stuff on my computer and if something comes in I still know right away! :) ).
What has everyone else been doing to pass the time? I'm rereading my favorite series of books, I still have a third series to go, this one has ten books in it, so I hope it can tide me over until I hear about an interview.
Any other ideas?
I have gmail and I'll have to get that tool! To pass the time I've been doing a lot of classwork for A&P II. I wouldn't call that leisure time, but it certainly takes up a lot of my "free" time! When I do have a little time to myself I like to cook. Cooking (not baking) is my big stress reliever. Now that we know decisions are being made I think my kitchen is going to be seeing quite a bit of use - at least until I find out if I'm going to get an interview or not!!
I am currently avoiding a panic attack (j/k) by reminding myself that apparently so far only FNP specialist applicants have heard about interviews and I did only get that email about applications being reviewed on March 16-literally five and a half weekdays ago.
If I remember correctly from the information session, all admission decisions are made by the faculty of the specialty being applied to. Also, IIRC, Family NP is usually the program that has the most applicants and the most slots available...(But, I think, still lower percentage admission rate than the other specialties because it's in such high demand). So it makes sense that they would have to get started ASAP on scheduling interviews. Since the cohort ends up being so small, I had the impression that some of the specialties only had five or less people-depending on what the specialty faculty bargain for that year-so I wouldn't be surprised if some of the specialties had all their interviews on one or two days. Am I mis-remembering something, or does that match what other people remember from the information sessions?
/Just trying to be the voice of tranquility for other non-FNP applicants on here.
p.s. Congrats SCNP2B on your admission to the program of your choice! :)
