UI Chicago GEP Spring 2012

Published

Anyone planning to apply to UIC's GEP for winter/spring 2012? (http://www.uic.edu/nursing/prospectivestudents/gep-about.shtml) The application opened on January 15 and is due March 1.

I just finished the primary application and am waiting to receive the secondary application to send out recommendation requests. Their application cycle is a bit odd and inconvenient, since most other places that start in the fall require deposits by late March into early April, and UIC doesn't inform you of your status until late April. But in the end, it's still a great program and worth a shot.

Hi Miss Priss! Ok so there are 3 of us on here for ACNP..Anyone else you know of? I am just curious how many other applicants had interviews...

Rachelrae-haha I know the prereqs are so variable for different schools. I have a BS in Biology so I had most of them done. I am definitely with you on the path to a NP! We will get there, just hopefully with UIC haha

Rachelrae, I am not sure about city colleges but I am at Oakton which requires one semester of inorganic chemistry (105 or 121) before Chem 207 (survey of organic chemistry...which DePaul and Rush accept for the orgo pre req). If you happen to attend Oakton, I highly recommend Sanvanson for either of those courses. He is an excellent teacher that provides practical and relevant education for those entering into the health professions. Hope that helps and good luck!

For all those patiently waiting with me...good luck!

Thanks buzzj!! I appreciate the rec! :) I don't have a car, so it might be kinda hard for me to get to the Oakton campus, but I'll definitely look into it.

Swimmer,

Buzz I thought one other person was for AC. I've been trying to figure out the same thing with the number of applicants!!! So far I think I have it narrowed down to there were two interviewers on Monday and I think the max number of interviews that day was 10. In my interview I was told they would take 14 but last year I think there were only 7. The email that I received for the interview only had 6 emails on it.

So please feel free to add to my madness of trying to figure everything out...

thanks prettylights for the info and research! i'm trying to do the same thing you are....let's see how well that works out for me hahaa! hopefully work will pick up and i'll just be extrememly busy and won't have time to think about the waiting!

Dancer - When you asked Julie about response time, do you recall if you asked specifically about your specialty, or if she was saying that everyone would hear early this week? My interviewer (FNP) told me we would find out by mid-May, but it seems everyone else is expecting much sooner. I was staying calm assuming we had a ways to go, but now I'm getting nervous!! ;)

I, too, am ACNP

prettylights- how many emails on your notification?

okay... how weird would it be if all 6 of us were on here talking to each other... I'm Terese- see if your email includes my name

Swimmer,

Am I on your email as well? At least we can find out about how many people interviewed...

My interviewer said we would hear by mid may...however when I emailed Julie specifically about my specialty (ACNP) she said that notifications and letters will be sent out on Monday April 25th.
