UI Chicago GEP Spring 2012

Published

Anyone planning to apply to UIC's GEP for winter/spring 2012? (http://www.uic.edu/nursing/prospectivestudents/gep-about.shtml) The application opened on January 15 and is due March 1.

I just finished the primary application and am waiting to receive the secondary application to send out recommendation requests. Their application cycle is a bit odd and inconvenient, since most other places that start in the fall require deposits by late March into early April, and UIC doesn't inform you of your status until late April. But in the end, it's still a great program and worth a shot.

Dancer - I hope that your feeling is right and that today will be the end of waiting! :) Also, if you don't mind me asking, which specialty did you apply for?

Sure; I applied for adult/gerontology.

Me too!! Well, fingers crossed that we find out today that we'll be classmates in January :)

:confused:Hey Guys I also just found this thread, was curious to see if anyone has heard back yet?

I applied to the ACNP, so far nothingggggggg lol

Welcome swimmer and fellow ACNP hopeful :) Nothing has been reported so far. Hopefully, there will be some notifications out today. I annoyed everyone at work yesterday by constantly checking my email with every *ding* notifying me of a new email so I hope to be a little better today. I never realized how much junk mail I receive...lol

Ohh Yikes, Hopefully we hear back today. I have started my Rush application and really just want to stop and see an acceptance email already lol.

Swimmer21 - I will likely be applying for Rush also! I'd love to be able to just pick up and apply to schools that are out of state (especially schools that are located near a coastline), but I'm kinda tied down to Chicago for a while.

Promise - I also have never realized the amount of annoying emails I get until now! :)

Rachelrae-haha we are in the same boat. Chicago is great though! We should be happy to study here, save those places for vacas lol.

Yah I just started the CAS app today, I might select a few more schools but most likely just Rush. What program did you apply for at UIC??

Nothing. Did anyone who e-mailed Julie yesterday hear back from her?

Here we go again! Hello Swimmer! I'm also waiting for ACNP

Swimmer21--I applied for the adult/geri track. I'm hoping to hear some good news today, but if not I will apply to other programs - I'll get to NP somehow!!

UIC would be a fan-flipping-tastic option, but it's also the only option I was able to apply for since other programs require so many prereqs. I have a BA in English, so I'm starting from scratch with all my science courses!

Kind of random question for everyone on here: Have any of you been able to take just one intro to Chemistry class and then been able to take the inorganic/organic classes? If you have, where did you take them? I'm hoping to get those courses done in less than a year (I know this will be quite a feat) because I'd like to be able to apply to DePaul as well.

I emailed Julie yesterday and have heard nothing... Also I took a closer look at last year's thread and made a couple observations:

1. It's half as long as ours this year and we haven't even gotten to decisions yet!

2. Very few people (only one or two) actually said when they got accepted/rejected. The rest were just waitlisters. I'm not sure what this means, other than we are clearly much more connected than last year's folks.

3. All but 2 posts on 4/26 about decisions were just that they had been waitlisted - not yea/nay

So, in other words, i have no idea.. Aside from a few of you saying Julie had said it would be the 25th, we're all pretty much in the dark. So, I've just started looking at other options so as to prevent yesterday's insanity from leaking into today and the days to come.

But good luck to everyone of course!
