  1. Hi everyone, Let me just start by saying how much of a help Allnurses was when I was first embarking on nursing and nursing school. A true life saver, and anxiety reducer! Anyway, here's my story: I had a background in foreign studies prior to starting my graduate entry program in nursing. I completed the pre-masters portion of the program in May and obtained my RN license in July 2013. I was hired for my first RN job at a Chicago ER where I had completed my Leadership rotation, and love/hated it. The timing was rather... inconvenient: I started the graduate program the same week that i started on the floor (August 2013), and I had no car. Mind you, the ER is located in... the ghetto. Awful neighborhood = great ER experience. Anyway, I quickly became overwhelmed at the ER, and having my boyfriend take me to and from work was incredibly stressful and taxing. So, I took an offer from a local community clinic where they were offering me flexible hours and a much lower stress environment. It wasn't 2 weeks after quitting the ER (Oct 2013) that i missed it-- mostly for the experience and partly because I was disappointed in myself for my lack of confidence that I could handle it all. However, the clinic I currently work at is wonderful! It is lower stress, at least in terms of the urgency of things and acuity of patients, and I do have more energy when I come home from a day at the clinic vs a day at the ER. Being in my first 6 months of nursing, though, sometimes I feel like I'm not getting the experience I need, especially being that I am currently working toward my NP. Well.. a few weeks ago, I emailed the ER director, telling her quite frankly, that I missed the ER experience and that she had "told me so". (She'd been very short with me when I announced my resignation.) Today, I received an email from the ER director, stating "To be honest, I did want you to wonder whether you'd made the right decision, but not for this long.." She proceeded to offer me my position back, only it would be Nights and I would have to tell her of my plan as to how i was going to handle the ER and school. Now.. I don't know what to do. I am trying to follow my gut, but I think my gut needs some random, impartial input. So, here's my plea. What do you all think? As new or experienced nurses, what is the best thing? Any input is appreciated! :) Thank you All!
  2. I emailed Julie yesterday and have heard nothing... Also I took a closer look at last year's thread and made a couple observations: 1. It's half as long as ours this year and we haven't even gotten to decisions yet! 2. Very few people (only one or two) actually said when they got accepted/rejected. The rest were just waitlisters. I'm not sure what this means, other than we are clearly much more connected than last year's folks. 3. All but 2 posts on 4/26 about decisions were just that they had been waitlisted - not yea/nay So, in other words, i have no idea.. Aside from a few of you saying Julie had said it would be the 25th, we're all pretty much in the dark. So, I've just started looking at other options so as to prevent yesterday's insanity from leaking into today and the days to come. But good luck to everyone of course!
  3. Do you all think it's still feasible to receive word this evening??
  4. I did just about 10 minutes ago... will let you know if i hear anything!
  5. Just wondering if Julie said the 25th or the week of the 25th... I think I need to calm down. lol
  6. Accidentally hit the send button before i finished... Edited my post above! :)
  7. Hey all... One good thing to come out of my obsessing... https://allnurses.com/il-nursing-programs/uic-gep-2011-a-463072-page8.html If you look at the timestamps, it appears emails came somewhere between 3:30pm and 6pm EST. So... Hang in there!! :)
  8. Anyone tempted to email Julie? ... I'm gettin' there! If anyone at my office is monitoring my internet activity.. Well, let's just say my productivity rating has decreased dramatically :)
  9. And we're sure this is taking place today, right? lol... I'm borderline ashamed at now impatient I am right now!
  10. Not yet! But, trust me, you all will be some of the first to know!!
  11. Hahahah oh so very true! I'm 50/50 about having so much work to do here in the office today! I can't say with any confidence that any work I do today, prior to getting this email from Julie, will be my best. lol... goodness gracious!
  12. Gotcha! Thank you SO much!
  13. Thank you, Ruthieb. Does that mean that I would have to work in a facility near one of the campuses? Or would I be able to travel to campus as needed for the MSN classes?
