Just checking in to see if anyone will be applying to UH Manoa's GEPN program next week. I'm nervous for the application process so if you guys have any advice or questions, I made this forum for us!

I have applied for the DNP program with the FNP track. I graduated this Spring with a bachelors degree in Microbiology. I have taken 3/6 of the prerequisites so far. I have research experience working with arthropod borne diseases. I am a certified nurse aide and am currently working as a medical assistant for a family nurse practitioner.
I don’t have much experience and averaged B’s in college so I am very nervous!
I submitted my applications September 5th and they were placed under review September 16th. Hoping to hear from the university this week based off of last years cohort. Fingers crossed!
Good luck to everyone!
Thank you for sharing and congrats on getting into GEPN! I understand you're a medical assistant and have your CNA and Microbiology. Did you have to go through a training school to become a certified medical assistant to get the job?
I've been thinking about working as a clinical/medical assistant too. I graduated with a degree in public health and have my CNA and taking care of elderlies, but I'm not a CMA since I'm not trained. Please let me know and thanks! ?

Hi,
No I didn't, my boss did not require it. I think it varies from work place to workplace.

If you live on island, here are some MA job postings that don't require certification.

Congrats on your acceptance! The fall semester was Monday thru Thursday most of the time 8am-4pm and one day of clinical on Friday or the weekend. This semester, we have 2 clinical days with classes/lab 4 days out of the week for most weeks. Not sure what Summer semester will look like

Hi! Do you remember if you had to submit a statement of objective or any writing samples for the Graduate Division when you applied? All I did was submit my personal information and that was it..
