  1. Hi Apex226, that's awesome you completed the GEPN program, congrats! Can you please share what the first year of the GEPN program was like for you? How much homework/tests/quizzes were there in the first/second/third semester? How were you able to balance the workload with clinicals and social life, etc. What were your emotions throughout the first year - were you happy, stressed out, or both? Any response is helpful, thank you!
  2. Hi! I got an email from the UH Graduate Division saying they received my application a week later from the day I sent my application for the GEPN-MS program. Did any of you guys received an email like this a week after, or did you receive it right away or a few days later from sending your application. Thanks.
  3. Hi! I was wondering what are the requirements to get into the Chaminade ABSN program in Honolulu. Do they require recommendation letters? If so, how many? Do the prerequisites expire at a certain amount of time from when we first took the class? What questions do they ask during the interview? Do they use NCAS to apply? Thanks!
  4. I believe they will email us and send a hardcopy mail. I know, I'm nervous for the results too. I'm curious to find out how they picked the applicants this time.
  5. Hi! This part confused me as well at first. Since you've attended UH, you do not need to upload your transcript to the Grad Division since the institution already has it filed; that's for those who did not attend UH. For NCAS, however, you need to upload an unofficial transcript. The "Online Advanced Population Health Nursing" applies to those who already have an RN license and want an MSN degree. The "GEPN-MSN-APHN" are for those who have a non-bachelor's degree in nursing. Hope this helps!
  6. Thank you so much J808! This is helpful!!
  7. Thank you for sharing and congrats on getting into GEPN! I understand you're a medical assistant and have your CNA and Microbiology. Did you have to go through a training school to become a certified medical assistant to get the job? I've been thinking about working as a clinical/medical assistant too. I graduated with a degree in public health and have my CNA and taking care of elderlies, but I'm not a CMA since I'm not trained. Please let me know and thanks! ?
  8. GEPN was rolling last year, but now it's not this year. The website says we'll hear them back by January.
  9. For the graduate application, did you submit a statement of objective, writing samples, and other documents? I know we don't need letter of rec, unofficial test scores and transcripts for this one. We don't need to do that, right? All I did was fill out my personal information and paid the fee, and that was it..
  10. Hi! Do you remember if you had to submit a statement of objective or any writing samples for the Graduate Division when you applied? All I did was submit my personal information and that was it..
  11. Nice! I don't blame you, I don't know what to expect either. Let me know if they reply early. I know they said they'll reply early January.
  12. Anyone sent in their applications? I kinda don't understand how and why GEPN is using regular admissions while the MSN and DNP are rolling admissions.
  13. Yes, becoming a nurse aide is a good start before starting GEPN. Some people were CNAs before starting nursing school while others were something else (non-nursing/non-healthcare workers). At least that's what I heard. I know one who went straight to GEPN right after graduating from University and was not a CNA. It can vary.
  14. Hi everyone! Here's the new group chat for all prospective students interested in applying for the Fall 2023 UH Manoa GEPN program. Anyone wanting to chat about their questions, concerns, personal backgrounds, work/life experiences, or just anything really, are more than welcome to upload it in the chat box. Good luck to all applicants and aspiring nurses!
