World Canada CA Programs

Hey!

I am just finishing up my prereqs this semester and will have everything ready to go after I get my marks back from finals in a few weeks. I am excited/nervous! I am 24 and have been working at an eye surgery office for the past almost 4 years so have lots of hours to apply with. I feel old...! But I know in the big picture life is just beginning! Anybody else applying for the January 2016 intake? Or has anyone applied before and have any tips?

Thanks guys and good luck!! :)

I did math online and it was definitely challenging. Haha. Are your distance ed classes all online?

Nice! Where did you go to high school? I graduated in 2009 and went to school in Abbotsford. And I have actually been employed at an ophthalmologist's office as an ophthalmic assistant for about 3.5 years so my work hours have been approved instead of volunteering. How about you?

Amy :)

Tell me about math online! It was killer haha Yes I have taken all my classes online. I work as a flagger so I don't have a set schedule which makes it difficult to take classes

I went to school in chilliwack at Sardis. I volunteered at the hospital, and as a first aid attendant with St. John ambulance, and I worked in a seniors home.

What made you decide on nursing as a career?

What percentages do you all have for Chem 11, Math 11, Bio 12 and English 12?

Ahh okay I gotcha! Wow, it sounds like you have some awesome experience in different areas. I think that will be really good for you! I really enjoy helping people and just feel like it is something that is meant for me. I know there are challenging times but more often than not, I find it all very rewarding. I also like that there are always advances and things to learn when it comes to the health care field. If that makes sense! How about you? @LMG6690

ak12 - I am not entirely sure on my percentages as on my UFV academic record it only shows my letter grades... I did all my upgrading through UFV... but I got an A+ in chem11, math11 and bio12... i had a B in eng12 but took eng105 instead and also got an A+... I fully know I am a huge nerd haha

Has anyone heard about the info session yet?

Seems like this intake may be more competitive than last!!

I made it to the interview last intake, but I was not accepted due to my B in bio(which I am redoing)

As for all other classes.

I have not heard anything about an info session yet. I sent an email a few weeks ago inquiring as to when I may hear something and I was told that my application would be reviewed in the next 2-4 weeks... So hopefully we will hear something somewhat soon!

Wow that is amazing! Good for you jennicole6983. Wishing you luck with upgrading your bio! Was the interview as intimidating as I imagine it to be? haha

Hi Everyone,

I was in the same boat earlier this year, I was accepted into the LPN Access program at UFV this fall (2015). I did, however, have 8 years experience as an LPN and all of my experience was in acute care. I'm sure this had something to do with my acceptance, and I had one reference from my PCC at Royal Columbian Hospital. I do know that your GPA also matters in terms of getting an acceptance letter, I did call the health sciences department and they really empasized on getting good grades. And at the information session, it was also mentioned that the applicants were selected based on GPA to get a "pass" for the info. session. There are so many applicants that I'm sure they have to draw the line somewhere. I only applied once and got in.

Just to give you all a heads up, the information session states that they want you to write an essay, but I found it was three questions and you need to state your answer in a paragraph format. They give you approximatley 45 minutes to answer the three questions. And the questions they ask are different for LPN Access versus the BSN applicants. The interview was not what I accepted, if you do well in general interviews, you will do fine! My interview lasted 20 minutes, I didnt go overboard with my answers, I just answered to the best of my ability and the moved on to the next question.

The interview was actually very relaxed! The lady asking you the questions just writes your answers down and has no say or influence in decisions. It was also just one person.

Thank you guys for the heads up! All your experiences and tips help so much.

Has anyone heard anything yet?

I emailed M***** and she said my application has been reviewed and I will receive an email within the next two weeks with an update on the status of my application. I will anxiously await that email... Anyone else get an email yet?

In the meantime I have heard back from Kwantlen and I have been accepted there! Did anyone else apply to KPU? However, my number one choice is most definitely UFV!

Hope you are all hanging in there!!
