Hey!
I am just finishing up my prereqs this semester and will have everything ready to go after I get my marks back from finals in a few weeks. I am excited/nervous! I am 24 and have been working at an eye surgery office for the past almost 4 years so have lots of hours to apply with. I feel old...! But I know in the big picture life is just beginning! Anybody else applying for the January 2016 intake? Or has anyone applied before and have any tips?
Thanks guys and good luck!! :)
What is everyone applying with in terms of grades and hours ? I have an A in chem and currently have A's in bio and math but we will see what the final turns out like. I also have an A in Eng105 for the time being but still have to write the final also... I have a feeling I will get at least one B. In terms of hours, I've worked for the last 4 years at an eye surgery office as an ophthalmic assistant so those hours have been approved. Hopefully this will all be enough! I am excited to just be able to apply soon. Feel free to discuss where you are at in the process and if you have any questions. Maybe we can figure it out together!
Anyone applied yet? I had my application in quite early but I know the application deadline isn't until mid-August. Would love to hear if anyone else has started this process!

Hey there!
I'm going to be applying soon. Just waiting for my Bio 12 Final mark to show up on my transcript. What type of volunteer hours do you have? I have around 90 but I heard you need about 150 hours to be competitive.
I'm so stressed lol!
Nice! Did you upgrade bio12 or just finish taking it in high school?
Im not sure how many hours I have exactly but I actually have 4 years worth of employment hours at an ophthalmology office as a technician that have been approved. So I got lucky there!
I actually just graduated from high school last year and finished my first year of uni. I didn't take bio 12 in high school so while taking uni classes i did it online and wrote the final recently.
Oh wow! That's so great. It's great that you were allowed to use those towards the volunteer hours. That'll definitely give you good points.
Are you applying anywhere else also? I was considering kpu and trinity also perhaps. But only kpu and ufv have Jan intake
Ahh I gotcha. Well good for you, that's awesome!
I am considering KPU also, like you said, because they also have a January intake. UFV is my top pick for sure though and anywhere else would be a back up hah.

Hey! I am also applying for the January intake. I've applied a few times already, had 2 interviews and been wait listed. Obviously I didn't get in haha
It is quite competitive. As for the volunteer hours, you're on the right track!
Oh wow! Have they given you feedback a as to why you weren't accepted after the interviews? I hope this intake works out for you!
Any tips as to what they are looking for after going through this process a couple of times? Anything is helpful!
:)
Honestly grades are the most important aspect. I have 400 hours of volunteer, 4 reference letters, 2 As and 2 Bs. I spoke to ******* after being declined and she told me I had a very strong application, that I did really well in the interview, but my grades we too low still. So I have to upgrade chemistry again... Ugh. Haha
Okay that is really good to know. I worked my butt off upgrading everything and have ended up with A's so I feel good about that.
Awe! It sounds like that's all you need to do then! When did you graduate high school?
thanks for your tips !
That's awesome :) I'm sure you will be fine then! I am working on it now, through distance ed. I graduated in 2011, what about you? Where have you volunteered?
