UFV Jan 2021 BSN

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello readers. Just curious if there is anyone out there whom is or has officially applied for the 2021 January intake for the BSN program @ UFV and what your experience has been thus far?

Me, I am working hard at my upgrades. I never thought I would be in my mid 30s and going back to Bio 12 and Chem 11 but here I am. I am working feverishly to get my classes done before Aug 15 as that is the last day your transcript has to be updated to meet the prerequisite requirements. I did and still do find this whole process overwhelming. When I met with the advisor at UFV she told me: English 12, Bio 12, Chem 11, and Math 11, come in with straight A's. I initially kind of thought, really??? Maybe I still do. I had a B+ in English 12. She recommended to pull that up to an A. So I am doing Chem 083 through UFV and Bio(now called Anatomy and Physiology) through online school district. I would be curious to hear if anyone else out there is considering or has applied and how your venture has been so far.

Take care!

Hi Folks....Hope everyone is doing well.....well my master plan was to finish my Biology prior to the Aug 15 cut off but unfortunately due to the shortage of teachers at sides (where I am upgrading my biology), there is a huge delay in marking assignments etc, so there is no way I would be able to complete my Biology before the cut off. I will apply for the next intake which is Sept 2021...sometimes we try our best but certain things are out of our control so I have accepted this. I am planning to use the time in between to take as much courses as I could from the program itself to lighten my load by the time I am in the program....so not all is lost I suppose.

I will still be a part of this board because I love to see everyones updates and progress. I hope everyone is enjoying all the sunshine we have been having. Have a Beautiful Day everyone.

yes, you are right, sometimes you try hard...but... I believe god has plan for everyone. so it is a good idea to wait for the right time.

I am also applying for Winter 2021. however, I am also taking courses fall semester. I am taking STAT, ENGLISH 105 and I have asked health studies department to offer me the seat for HSC111, if available. I hope this information helps you.

wish you good luck!! ?

Has anyone had any issues showing their application as "Complete?" I had sent all transcripts, grades, references, experience, and some areas it is still showing in progress.....

It is also next to impossible to get ahold of someone in admissions right now

Mine is showing "ready to review by program" . I also called admissions but they don't respond to calls. But if you email them, they respond to emails pretty quick.

Hope that helps!!

Hi everyone,

I just found out today that the rest of my English 12 course won't be marked until September. Meaning that I will be applying for the January 2021 intake with a 'B' in English. While I have As in the other 3 pre-reqs, I'm a bit frustrated because my instructor didn't bother mentioning until today that I wouldn't be receiving a final grade for the course until September. I'm just really hoping I still have a fair shot at this intake with my 3 As and 1 B. ?

That’s too bad. What school were you doing it from?

I can understand your frustration. Your grades are good though. You will be fine. From which school were you doing your english?

If I remember correctly, you're also applying with 3As and 1B? I hope both of us still have a chance! I was retaking my English 12 from an online school in Surrey.

Hello all!

I just wanted to wish everyone good luck as we are nearing the end of the application window. It's been so awesome to have a forum to reference during this stressful time!

Best of luck in your future endeavors,

Katie ?

Hi all!

There are 48 seats for Winter intakes, and 32 seats for Fall intakes - this is because the fall intake with eventually combine with an LPN bridging cohort. And don't stress too much about grades! They're only worth a portion of the points! You can absolutely make up for less than ideal grades with the interview.

I've applied twice. First was Winter 2020 and I was waitlisted, pending an open seat. Second, I applied for Fall 2020 and was rejected. Because of the current pandemic, interviews were transitioned from in person, one on one, to written answer, zoom group interviews. I found that format MUCH harder. I'm much more of a people person, and find it hard to convey my personality over text - which apparently they found too haha! I'm not sure if I will apply for UFV again, or try my luck with another school.

Pre-req grades I applied with:

Chem11 A-

Bio12 A+

Math085 A-

Engl105 A-

And additional credits:

A+P (BCIT) A-

Stats104 A

Soc101 C-

As well as approximately 100 volunteer hours in harm reduction.

Hi @KelseyR,

Thank you for sharing your experience. Do you know if any of the other applicants in the intakes you applied for were accepted with a B? You're right about there being other ways to boost our score (references, essay, interview), so I'm really hoping my 1 B doesn't bring me down...

As far as the essay/interview goes, are you able to shed any light on the nature of the questions asked? From what I understand, the interview asks more general "job interview" type questions, but what is the essay prompt like? Is it a nursing related question?

Thanks again for sharing your experience! All the best to you and your future education/career goals!
