UFV Jan 2021 BSN

Nursing Students School Programs

Hello readers. Just curious if there is anyone out there whom is or has officially applied for the 2021 January intake for the BSN program @ UFV and what your experience has been thus far?

Me, I am working hard at my upgrades. I never thought I would be in my mid 30s and going back to Bio 12 and Chem 11 but here I am. I am working feverishly to get my classes done before Aug 15 as that is the last day your transcript has to be updated to meet the prerequisite requirements. I did and still do find this whole process overwhelming. When I met with the advisor at UFV she told me: English 12, Bio 12, Chem 11, and Math 11, come in with straight A's. I initially kind of thought, really??? Maybe I still do. I had a B+ in English 12. She recommended to pull that up to an A. So I am doing Chem 083 through UFV and Bio(now called Anatomy and Physiology) through online school district. I would be curious to hear if anyone else out there is considering or has applied and how your venture has been so far.

Take care!

Hello Everyone!!

I have also applied for BSN Winter 2021 with an A in English, Chemistry, Biology and an A+ in Math. I have handed in my additional forms but due to the pandemic I don’t have many volunteer hours in an acute environment. Fortunately, I contacted health studies and they said at this point they recommend submitting any kind of volunteer experience. That’s what I did for anyone worried about their volunteer experience in a health facility. I don’t have my license yet which is so stressful but thankfully they’ve given us more time to complete that requirement. I just hope ICBC opens up road tests soon??Best of luck to everyone applying!!

Welcome to the group!

well you are certainly on the right path for getting in. Good job on the grades! I finished my Chemistry and English with A’s. I am finishing up my math and biology by the end of the month and hope to have the grades in them to be good enough.

interesting about the volunteer hours. Good for you that they will be able to accommodate you. When I previously asked about any potential changes during covid I was told the entry requirements were the same as previously listed. I just hope to make it in!

Yeah the current circumstances are making this whole process very stressful. I actually asked less than a week ago and its also written on the UFV website now. Me too!! I've been waiting for this and now I just hope it ends on a positive note. Also best of luck for math and biology!! I hope u do well

I am done my all pre req courses with 2A+, B+ and waiting for one grade to post. I m recently done with my first aid. I am just short on my volunteer hours and I hope that does not impact my application in a bad way. Good to see it is not only me.

I wish all of you best of luck and we are almost there!!

Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing well! It is wonderful to meet all of you.

I just submitted my application a few days ago. I applied with:

A+ Bio 093

A Math 085

A Chem 083

A- English 105

I have two years worth of pharmacy tech experience, and I have recently become a medical residential caregiver. I also have about 60 hours of volunteer experience in the hospital post-op recovery unit and a seniors facility. I was able to submit 4 reference letters as well. I am excited but also nervous about the process to come. Good luck to all of us!

Welcome to the group. Great job with your grades. You should be in the path into the program!

how were you able to send 4 reference letters? Which forms did you send in with the application?

Hi there! Oops, I probably should have worded this differently. My four references filled out the reference submission form on the UFV website and sent it to admissions. I did not send them in as I believe they are supposed to be confidential - I only sent in the additional application form myself.

Sorry were these references for your work experience? I didn’t see any spot on the forms for references other than this?

Hi Everyone.

It is so nice to stay informed and see everyone's progress.

So far I have an A- for Eng099, A + for chem083 and an A for Math 11 Foundations. I am still currently doing my Biology 12 and hopefully I will finish it in the next 2 weeks the latest...

For volunteer experience, I am pretty sure I have mentioned this before but I can't remember with my busy schedule.. so forgive me in advance for my repetition if that is the case :)...I have like 5 years of experience as a Medical Clerk, both in the public and private sectors. My two references are my previous employers. I have done other volunteering within the recent 5 years....at St. Michael's Hospice in Burnaby as a volunteer companion for patient's and their family members and for First United Church downtown on the East Side. For some reason I was under the impression that we could only submit two references for the volunteer experience?. Or are we able to submit more then 2? If someone can kindly confirm that, I would really appreciate it :).

Thank you.

Hi @Plumeria21,

You can definitely submit more than 2 references. It doesn't mention anywhere on the website a minimum/maximum number of references - I sent in 3. You should be fine with 2, but I don't think there's any harm in sending 1 or 2 more if that's what you want!

Hi there. I only had one reference for my experience section. But I feel that’s all that was needed as I’ve been full time with the health authority for many years and this is recognized as the work experience.

Thanks guys, your responses were really helpful. I guess the more the merrier......
