UF Generic Nursing 2010

Hey! So has anyone applied for Fall 2010.? What is your GPA and where are you transferring from. I currently have a 3.1. I am taking Micro and A&P II and I'm sure I will get A's in both of those to help my GPA go up. Do I stand a chance? Not to happy about my GPA though. Chemistry killed me. I got a C. I'm going to be a transfer from Santa Fe College.

Keep me posted! =] Good Luck to everyone. :)

I don't mean to be a downer, and I wish you the best of luck getting into UF, but I would definitely recommend applying to other nursing schools as well. It has become very difficult to get into UF's BSN program, as the number of seats available has been steadily decreasing year by year. UF's nursing website even specifically states that they highly suggest transfer students apply to several different colleges. As it is, they are forced to turn down several well-qualified applicants that are current UF students, so the odds are even worse as a transfer. If you have a 4.0, you're in the best position you could possibly be in as a transfer student, and like I said before, good luck!! Just hope for the best, but plan for the worst.

hey guys! i also applied for the nursing school of 2010. I have a 3.49 gpa and am transferring from MDC with 73 credits. I would looove to get into nursing school but I find it very difficult as well. I was not into many clubs since all I did was work. I am latin and a female but I am sure thats not going to make up for much :/. So i am trying to be positive in getting in but I really see it as a long shot right now. :-( hopefully i'll get accepted!

Hey guys! I'm currently a Nursing student at UF, I came through the generic program! If you have any questions feel free to ask , GOOD LUCK!

Thanks so much afrobella! I am so glad you replied. First and foremost, how do u like it? I'm sure you have nothing but good things to say about the program! And the second would be if you happen to know anything about nursing admissions this year? Hopefully it will not be too competitive. Sounds like I'm hoping for a little too much lol. Anyway, thank you for your help!!!!

I have a 3.9 GPA and right now I'm in Jacksonville (FSCJ), but I got my AA in St. Petersburg (SPC). I applied to UF and have wanted to go there forever, but I'm actually leaning more towards UNF though now - Their website is really put together and actually contains all the information I could possibly want about the application process/prgram...they seem much more helpful than UF. I don't even know when I will find out about UF so it is very hard for me to stay dedicated to them :/

I was looking into UNF as well because it would be a shorter drive. If I don't get into UF, I am going to apply there. Everyone has told me that we will hear something from UF in June. I agree that the UF nursing website could be more helpful. I went to Gainesville to meet with a counselor and, of course, they were very helpful. Good luck!

I am sure you are so happy to be at UF! We will probably bombard you with questions, lol. What are the hours like and how difficult is it? I really hope I get in...

I didn't meet with anyone from UF... I should have looked into that more, but UCF and UNF both had information sessions so I guess I assumed UF didn't offer anything like that! Good luck to you too! :)

LOL, I like the program when I'm not stressed.:uhoh3: but seriously its a commitment. I must say the faculty/professors are ALL dedicated to this profession. It was really competitive last smester and one of the most stressful semesters of my life! Learning the in and outs of nursing is like learning a new language/skill! But so far this semester is by far less stressful; but the work is still hard nonetheless! All I know about admissions is that they will be taking about 120-127 students, like they did last year. Again, they have more preference to UF students BUT there are transfers from onther colleges/universities in my class. And another thing is that the 2010 class will have a slight change in the schedule. I heard a rumor that you guys will be with the accelerated students, will not have any summer classes and you guys will be taking Genetics! Lots of changes from our Fall 2009 program!

Hmm, again the incoming class has a different schedule than we did in our fall semester BUT I'm sure the work will equally hard! Many of the students had to quit their jobs because the work is difficult and you want to make sure you have a satisfactory score on the exams, which will translate to a decent GPA. I personally did not take up a job, I had to take out some loans due to books mostly. The most difficult classes will depend on you, I personally had problems just trying to find time studying for each class. There is SO much information....Each class is equally important! I had to drop out of a few organization to dedicate my time to schooling. Hours.... lol to ME my first semester as all dedicated to my nursing work. I remember telling myself that their needed to be more hours for me in the day to study or to complete work.

Anymore questions feel free to ask!
