  1. I will not be working. I plan to dedicate my time (100%) to my schooling. I saved up enough money to live modestly. If I do change my mind I will work at a small clinic part-time/graduate assistant or a non-nurse related job with my university. Plus I'm fullt-time which is "academic suicide" if I decided to work and it is highly advised not to in my program. I am single and childless..so this situation works best for me. I'll do fine
  2. I've been working night shift for 1.5 years now and I recently did my physical and bloodwork. Welp, it came back low in Vitamin D and that my urine showed I was dehydrated. Thank Lord, my TSH, T4 levels and thyroid US were normal. I've been feeling quite sluggish at work and stressed lately. I know in the long run the night shift is not practical for me. For now, I'm taking supplements and getting out in the sun * I live in the Sunshine State , lol* and drinking plenty of water.
  3. Twin Girls named LaWasha and LaDrya.
  4. Ok, I see. I say do your research and find the program with the best fit for you. I also think you should ask for opinions after the 1st semester...that usually helps..if you haven't made up your mind yet. And I would still encourage you to apply:yes:
  5. Hey reebokHCFR, can you explain why you were turned off from the information session? I'm curious.
  6. @ RN Sam: I cleared by email box! @emmbeee: Thank you again! Your overall stats are pretty impressive and I always thought that students that attended Undergrad would usually have first dibs. I wished I attended one of the informations session to better understand the process. If you have any questions feel free to ask me. I'm not from Tampa, I live in South Florida. So I don't know anyone else that applied to FNP progam @ USF. Again, I'm looking forward to your acceptance, too!
  7. I applied. My online application just states "committee". Hopefully decisions will be sent this week or the next.
  8. ...Nurses are fashion rebels John.. we wear white after Labor day...
  9. I currently work on a PCCU floor and I work nights. My max ratio is 5. You guys have it good!
  10. I was under the impression that did conducted interviews. I personally know two friends that graduated from the ABSN portion that sated to me they had a session with the program admission director. But thanks for the info @ hope! Any who, misssummer I would always call or go in person for current information. I'm sure things have changed since I graduated! Again good luck, to all!
  11. During my year there was about 50-60 students in the of ABSN portion The good thing about UF is that they conduct interviews to really get to know the applicants for this portion, unlike the regular portion where you just do an essay and send in your transcripts. It honestly all depends on how much faculty and clinical sites that are available and that usually dictates the amount of students accepted. If you need any more info on UF feel free to ask!
  12. ....Hope you don't mind if I jump in @ hopeful and miss summer:unsure:.. I was lurking and decided to give some advice/my experience! .. I can vouch for UF's nursing program c/o 2011. It was a tough and rigorous program but most of the professors are fan-tas-tic and quite knowledgeable! The experiences are good and having multiple clinical locations give you a broad prospective of the nursing realm. They really motivated to get involve in research and advance my education. *Already applied to several schools to get my MSN in Family Practice* If you do only apply to one FL school I hope you make it UF. I also think you *misssummer* should check out the ABSN UF 2013 thread in the Florida school section and ask the one's that received acceptance about their experiences with the whole process. Oh yea..almost forgot... as usual... GO GATORS!!!
  13. Did you mean the University of South Florida?
  14. I work on tele/step down unit as well. This is why I'm taking my butt * I wanna write something else but you get my drift* back to school. Lazy management, rude and demanding patients/families, nasty doctors, lack of help from PCA's or worse NO PCAs, one discharge... two seconds later a complicated admission. I'm so done with bedside nursing. DONE!
